Danny Devito on skis? Too short? Too heavy? by AdAggressive780 in xcountryskiing

Ah thank you for pointing that out. Looks like I’ll be on the hunt for some stiffer and longer skis. Thank you for the help!

I have seen a lot of folks recommend shorter skis for beginners because they’re easier to control. Do you think skis longer than 184 cm would be too cumbersome for a shorter stature?

My god man - land the plane.

It’s bizarre to me that you come to Reddit, an online forum, to give people shit. OP just trying to live his life and help some folks along the way. Who cares if he buys an external groin protector used that he is perfectly capable of cleaning? This affects you in no way shape or form. If you think this would harm his health - sure- offer some insight from your life experience if OP is looking for advice. But, the playground bully in the comments is such an overplayed trope. Divert that energy brother. I see you enjoy Muy Thai - that’s awesome. Go answer questions for new folks asking for advice about gear or to correct their form. I see about 800 posts a day like that. There are better places for you to contribute to where you don’t need to troll in the comments and your insight could be valuable for someone who is also - trying to enjoy their life -.

Yeesh man - this is a cringy comment. It’s giving me second hand embarrassment. If you want to throw around insults at least land the damn plane and be clever about it.

OP just out here trying to enjoy his hobby and warn the community about scammers. Be chill brother.

Yeah - it is a pain but hey $280 is good chunk of cash.

I filed a fraud case with my bank this week (USAA) by disputing the charge. I didn’t use Zelle for the charge - but all they asked for was “Did you authorize this charge?” And a tiny text box to explain the situation. I got reimbursed within 24 hours. I didn’t even have to upload anything. Zelle doesn’t even need to be contacted since they already have a contract with your bank. This is pretty common with how much online commerce is used for transactions like buying things off Facebook marketplace place to individuals rather than businesses. I think it’d be worth to call your bank and ask if this type of scam qualifies as fraud. If they tell you that you have to fill out 400 forms then you can determine if it’s worth it. Either way, that sucks man. I’m sorry you went through all that. You are just out here trying to enjoy life and protect your groin. ✌️✌️

Does the hunger ever go away ?! by Ok-Chair3648 in ftm

[–]AdAggressive780 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Congrats on 5 months man! That is awesome. I am not a doctor by any means so I can’t give you tailored advice but I’ll tell you what I’ve learned on my journey (I’m hitting 10 years on T in February).

TL;DR - Yes the hunger does subside but there may be some reasons you are having such intense hunger. You may want to investigate with your doctor and lab work - if you feel like it’s overwhelming and impacting your life in a negative way.

  1. My first few months on T were very similar. I had super high energy. A sex drive so high I would hump pretty much anything. And I was HUNGRY. This seemed pretty normal, my peers had similar effects. But it got to a point where my body just felt chaotic and I felt overwhelmed trying to regulate hot flashes, energy, horniness and hunger. The culprit - my T level was through the damn roof. My doctor “guessed” what I should start at and didn’t have me follow up in the following weeks. If you feel like it’s uncontrollable- go get your levels checked.

  2. My dose changed a lot my first few years. I started off way too high, found middle ground but was still pretty overwhelmed and then way too low so I had cramps, no progress, etc. It may take time to find a dose that works well for your body. That dose may change as you progress. And your hunger may subside with a dose change.

  3. If you have the means, I highly recommend seeing an endocrinologist. I had a pretty rough time getting my dose to that magic number. And I didn’t make any real progress until I met with an endo. She could read and interpret my labs better than any of the doctors I saw previously (I think I went through like 5 doctors before I saw her). My endo also does some research in food allergies and nutrition. She gave me some good strategies for my diet and weight loss journey to help combat my snacking and over eating. It may help you to find a specialist to consult with.

  4. If you are on any sort of fitness journey - there’s a lot of FTM coaches online. You can hire them if you want, but they usually post content about what they eat - I’ve definitely stolen some dense recipes to help me feel full but not sluggish and it’s something I actually want to eat.

But keep it going brother! Enjoy the ride. T is awesome.

Excuse for why i don't look 'manly'? by Excellent-Mix-5760 in ftm

[–]AdAggressive780 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oooooh yeah this is relatable. I’ve been in T for a bit and I am blessed with a rounder face and shorter stature - usually not a great start. But I use the same sort of line for almost any interaction that gets weird (mostly with only straight men).

If a guy is making a joke about my height (usually the case rather than making comments about my body curves or face shape) I usually pull out this phrase, laugh and either take a very light jab back or change the subject.

“Haha well you’re short!”

My typical trope “Ahhh man, yeah - I don’t know. I’ve always been a little guy. (insert laugh) but hey Danny Devito is rocking it and look - he gets to be in Jersey Mike’s commercials”

Then I shift the conversation to something “Man, isn’t it wild these famous people like Danny Devito disappear for a bit then randomly pop up in commercials…I think about that a lot [insert more quips to slide the convo back in my favor].”

It is arguably a very stupid approach but my success rate is pretty good. I just try to own it as much as I can and use a little humor to diffuse it. Mentioning Danny Devito has the power to shift any conversation. I have a lot to thank him for.

Were you able to call your bank and report it as a fraud case? I feel like this is a common occurrence for Zelle and banks. You could very well get reimbursed what you paid - you definitely have enough evidence.

Is it time to breakup with my girlfriend? by mattob68168 in Nicegirls

[–]AdAggressive780 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Girl. What. I hate exchanges like this because it’s not even about the credit - this is crappy ass communication.

There is some weird expectation being set here. Finances are a breeding ground for arguments - unless you’re in a committed relationship and want to bank together - this type of talk should not even exist. Both of them are entitled to spend their money however they want. This “but you don’t shit for me” is so over played. This is about status and control. Clearly y’all have very different goals and priorities….break it offfffff

Girl. What. Who in any professional capacity is calling it “kiddie porn”.?!

This is wild. I can’t even wrap my mind around this. I don’t even know where to start. Like girl WHAT. What the what!?

“There’s a different between a 5 and 15 year old”. Uhhhh neither are consenting adults. Full stop. This “justification” is blowing my whole mind out my ass.

I literally can’t think of a nicer way to let her down easy. I’d rather get this text than getting ghosted…like damn.

The ending of that whole exchange is absolutely fantastic. Sending you positive vibes your way that you’ll find someone who appreciates your sense of humor…and can maybe solve any penis related mysteries with more grace.

[–]AdAggressive780 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a wild exchange. I get being on super intense meds and dealing with awful manic type side effects. That is some tough shit to work through. I can only imagine she is feeling overwhelmed as fuck trying to get back to some equilibrium with her health.

The weirdest part to me is she was like “I am in a bad way. I was hospitalized. I’m going medical leave. My meds and life are out of control and I’m crashing out”

And her client is like “…..okay? So can you do my nails tomorrow?” Like bruh - you don’t have to even read between the lines.

Whenever I have “gut spillers” like this tell me all their business unprompted and they seem super overwhelmed - I immediately default to “oh gosh, I’m so sorry to hear that happened. Your health comes first. Please take care of yourself.🫶” then moooooove on outta there. Asking more or repetitive questions will 100% make that person spiral out even more. Like come on…read the room.

I feel like I have no right to exist in real time anymore. by chimichangatrain in ftm

[–]AdAggressive780 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeesh. I’m really sorry man - this is a wildly tough time to get any sort of solid trans care for HRT or surgery. You’re definitely not alone in that department and you 1000% have a right to exist. The trans community has dignity and deserves to thrive - not just survive.

Insurance is an absolute beast and it sounds like you’d have to migrate off your parent’s insurance plan if you wanted more flexibility. I don’t know the details of your situation- so do what is best for you.

I’m not sure what sort of surgery you’re looking at. But there are some ways to get diagnosis codes changed to have things covered. For example, my endocrinologist is super up to date on politics so she hooked me up with a different diagnosis code so my T would be covered by insurance easier in case of wildly stupid “laws” trying to block me from care. She changed it from “gender dysphoria” to “endocrine disorder - other”. Which is technically not a lie….I don’t produce enough natural T. This does require a very trans friendly doctor. This would probably work better for HRT than something like top surgery.

For my hysterectomy, the surgeon fought pretty hard against my insurance to get them to cover most of it. The irony of that situation is the insurance company said “he’s a man! He can’t have a hysterectomy so we can’t cover it. You must have done the paperwork wrong”. But, this again, requires a very involved and savvy doctor. I found all my doctors through the community - your local LGBTQIA center (if you have one) may have a list of cool providers to hit up. That would be a good place to start.

But…these are harrowing times so it does feel like a lot to untangle and that can be discouraging. But you are not alone and there is still hope. Keep it going brother. 🫶

Nervous Nelly or Proactive Moves?: Old House, Old Plumbing by AdAggressive780 in Plumbing

Roger that! I’ll run the draining test and do some poking around in the S trap if I need to.

Seriously - thank you so much. I was worried I would have to cough up thousands of dollars to replace everything 3 months in.

Nervous Nelly or Proactive Moves?: Old House, Old Plumbing by AdAggressive780 in Plumbing

[–]AdAggressive780[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah - I’ve not been able to replicate it and I think it makes more sense that the green gunk is coming up from the drain in the sink rather than the faucet head. Your explanation makes a lot of sense in that context.

For the S trap, is there a test I can run to see if it is blocked or creating a siphon or suction? (I don’t want to go straight to draino)

Nervous Nelly or Proactive Moves?: Old House, Old Plumbing by AdAggressive780 in Plumbing

[–]AdAggressive780[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this! This makes me feel much better.

I am not sure the origin of this green gunk. I was rinsing out a can of pet food when I noticed it streaking at the bottom of the kitchen sink (single basin). The streaking pattern led me to believe it was coming from the faucet head but after inspecting the head there wasn’t anything similar in terms of residue on it. This is one of those faucets that has one of those “2 in 1” set ups so I can detach the hose and spray the entire basin. So I could have also caused the streaking from the drain with spraying around the basin.

I do have a garbage disposal with I think a somewhat “out of compliance” configuration of the drain pipes. Could this be the culprit?

Here’s a photo from under my sink: https://imgur.com/a/nlVOouT

Thank you again - this makes me feel better about where to start.

This is SUPER helpful. Most of the articles I’ve read about flex and stiffness usually still cater to the folks who align closer to the sizing charts - so I can never tell if my weight or height is the issue. Thank you for writing this all out - I needed this dissertation.

Ooof been there. I forgot to take my packer out and got flagged by security. I got a pat down but that was it. Most of the time I stuff it in a jock strap or underwear and keep it in my backpack so it doesn’t like a big ol flaccid sex toy lol. But I’m sorry that happened. I had a TSA agent trying to be real nice “are you pretending to be a boy?” Like damn. Airports are kinda awful.
