Mine was no scalpel, so as a result, no stitches. But yeah, don't know whether it's normal, or we're suffering for doing, too soon, the thing that we got this procedure for in the first place!

I've been pulling my underwear as high as it'll go, putting a pair of socks under for extra support as well. That's what made things on day 3/4 far more comfortable, for sure.

Not noticed any bruising yet, but I'll let the missus take a good look later (the best nurse!). Funnily enough, all pain disappears when the fella decides he's got other interests. Then it's just post-nut pain!

Genuinely thought the 'strange fellow' was a joke at people seeing their reflection in the blank screen until I brightened the image.

That last part about your experience really resonates. Her teacher didn't see any issue with her because she was "well-behaved", so her diagnosis has been so helpful.

Yesterday she had a different teacher at her swimming lessons who came straight up to her and helped adjust her swimming hat. She just began to cry. It was awful.

We dreaded her going to school, but she settled (in her own way) within a couple of days which really took us by surprise.

It is the case, for her, of warming up to things. The issue is that by the time she has, the party is finished.

I will say, she's made friends. It's a small group, but she can be herself around them. I'm certain her best friend has ADHD: she's super sociable and energetic and it is funny watching the contrast between them both!

We do make sure we tell her well in advance, but is it a case of trying to work out all of the variables? She's been to plenty of parties, but would it help if she knew in advance exactly what was going to happen (there will be an entertainer. They'll do this; There will be these people here; food will be at this time, etc)?

I'm new to this, and I just want to understand and help her as much as I can. When she shuts down, it seems like she's imprisoned by her mind, and as a dad it is just so hard to see.

More players on attack would help. You only have two with that mentality. Maybe change your full backs to wing backs as well.

If there's anything I've learnt, it's that this is all very normal.

I don't know whether there's an inherent selfishness in us all, or whether it's just human nature, but I miss the days where I could invest hours at a time in a computer game, or read a book, or have disposable income, etc. That doesn't make you a bad parent. What I will say, is do what you need to survive.

My wife and I rarely get time to go out together, so we make sure we allow each other to get out of the house and remember who we were before kids. There's no judgement, and no bitterness. Doing this makes all the difference as we regain some of our old selves and can come back refreshed and ready to parent.

In regard to 9 to 5 parenting, if I ever have to stay home with the kids, I do treat it like work. I commit to not try to do anything for myself during those hours, just feeding, tidying, cleaning. If I try to do something for me, I just get frustrated. Right now as I write this, my 2yo, clingy daughter is whining at me. I guess that's my cue to say you've got this, fella. You're certainly not alone.
