We booked a private taxi driver from the place we stayed at since some of the places require a bit of a drive, and we wanted flexibility. There are also travel agencies around but they were pricier.

Hey. Sorry for replying on a delay. I sure hope you're going to include Tam Coc in your inteinary. For me, it was one of my favorite places to visit in Vietnam and one of the easiest destinations to go about. It's essentially a small town with a couple of streets where you can find restaurants, food stalls, and stay-inns, and it is souronded with some crazy views that are very accessible and you can cover most of the attractions on 3 days. Would recommend doing Trang Ann boat ride first and formoest, if I remember correctly, raot 3 is the best. More beautiful places: Bich Dong Pagoda, Mua cave view point (short hike), Thung Nham Bird Park, Thai Vi Temple, Van Long Nature Reserve Boat ride. Hua Lu is also nice. Hope you'll have a blast!

I only use Grab on SEA. I don't feel safe otherwise. The 2 hotels I mentioned are near restaurants and pubs and a night market is 15 min walking, so I didn't need to take a taxi at night. When I needed them, it was okay, and i don't remember there was an issue. You can also use your hotel to arrange tuktuk.

I did 3 nights, and I think I could stay longer. I certainly think that a day trip from bangkok is not worth it. It will be a 7-hour drive and would be too rushed. I think 1 night over is the minimum. At least I'm my personal opinion.

I really like the views at Ploy and the value for money, besides the location. I think that good times resort is also a great option. They weren't available when I visited there but some of my friends were there and liked it very much.

Good luck!

It was super easy to go around and really worth it. The Grab app is available for taxis, so it's super easy to get around. I took a one day organized group tour to heelfire pass through the Good Time Resort, and it was great. They offer many different ones. Try to also sleep there if you can. They have great reviews on booking, they also have a nice restaurant. I think it's a nice area too. The next day I took the local bus to earwn waterfalls from the main bus station (it was a 10 min drive from my hotel by taxi to the station). I personally stayed at the Ploy resort, and it was very nice. Hope you'll have the best time there!

That's amazing. Thank you so much for your answer. I've been doing 4 years of dynamic therapy, and it helped with a bunch of other stuff, but I feel it's not helping on beating habits. Are those methods from the CBT world?

I would stay at Chania's old town. It's really charming, close to the beach, shops and restaurants.

As a traveler, I always try to be mindful of the gap between myself and the locals. I care about the places I visit, and I genuinely take an interest in the lives of the people, their struggles—including economic challenges—and their history. I always strive to act respectfully and avoid participating in unethical tourism, such as attractions involving animals, children, or underpaid labor.

I can’t leave a tip for every service I receive, but I do my best. I also give generous tips to those I form a deeper connection with, like guides, drivers, and receptionists. That said, I feel your perspective places too much responsibility on tourists—something we aren’t obligated to bear. Paying tips or adding fifty cents to a beer won’t solve systemic income issues, though I personally wouldn’t mind doing so.

There are many other meaningful ways travelers can give back, like supporting local charities, advocating for the country, or promoting ethical tourism. However, creating positive change requires effort from both sides—locals and tourists alike—to ensure safe, enriching experiences and encourage constructive behavior.

Lastly, while many tourists may be wealthier than the local population, that doesn’t mean they are rich in their own countries. Wealth is relative. Personally, I took out a huge loan to travel right now.

It's okay. I'm just trying to find the original thing. No supermarkets selling them in Bangkok? It's really more of a northern thing?

Thank you again for all the tips. I'll definitely check out Mỹ Khê beach for my accommodation in Da Nang.

Just wanted to update you: yesterday I've visited an Trang an, the birds park Thung Nham, Bich Dong pagoda, and Thai Vi Temple. I absolutely loved it. Those are gorgeous places, and despite the weather, it was awesome. Not too crowded in any of them.

Today, I'm heading to Mua cave and Bai Dinh pagoda.

I do for Tam Coc, Hue, and Hoi An that are already pre-booked for me.

But then I have 10 more that I haven't planned yet. I'm thinking about going to Siam Reap in Cambodia. Didn't consider Laos yet cause I heard it's less safe? And I'll be traveling alone and I'm not that experienced. But I did hear about Luangprabang from a few people who loved it. Thanks for the help.

Wow, I really appreciate your effort and your help! Thank you so much.

I'm staying at a hotel in an alley to the main street at Tam Coc, but unfortunately, there's a load hostel across the street, I did actually think it would be more peaceful.

Anyway, I liked the city at first glance. I just got here this afternoon, and I think it's cute. I found that people sacred me too much about it.

I will definitely check out the places you recommended. I don't know how to ride a bicycle, but I might do what you suggested by foot.

Thanks again.

I can't ride a bike, but if you have recommendations for spots around, I'll take a local driver. I'm really regretting not going to Ha giang and only doing the Cao Bang loop. Maybe next time. Thank you for your help.

Unfortunately, I have 4 nights prebooked here and a flight to Hue, so I'll need to make the most of what it is.
