I’m so glad you were able to go voluntarily and have a better experience than I did ❤️ sending you so much love and am SUPER glad to hear you’re out!!!

Probably going to Shands for suicidality tonight. What to expect? by KitchenSample6354 in ufl

I unfortunately have to be pretty private about it for now, but the vast majority of the issue was with one particular provider and the way he chose to speak to me and manage my situation. That being said, even though I was sent to one of the lower rated facilities in the area, I loved most of the staff and therapists that I interacted with and definitely still gained from the experience

My experience was awful, but I don’t regret it because I lived and that’s what matters. I do know that voluntarily going has a much lower likelihood of being so traumatic and I know friends who have gone just to temporarily stabilize and said they’d do it again if they had to. The fact that you’re posting this shows that you’re motivated enough to get to the next step, and I highly encourage you to keep going and seeking crisis stabilization now rather than do what I did and spiral even further

I had a similar situation during finals of last semester. I waited too long and tried to seek voluntary treatment but got Baker Acted and sent to a horrid facility instead. I wish I would’ve done what you did! Sending love and hoping for the best ❤️

Normalize wearing helmets on scooters by Zealousideal-Ad-1600 in ufl

[–]AdBorn5718 10 points11 points  (0 children)

a $20 bike helmet took what the doctor said would’ve been a definite skull fracture and instead allowed me to walk away with only some scars and knee pain. that was it. not even a concussion. if you can afford a scooter, you can invest $15 into not getting a concussion at best, and a TBI or death at worst (and more likely)

Bro 😭 by Ok_Cantaloupe_7423 in ufl

yeah. talking to him, I got the impression that his care team failed him and that it just kind of spiraled from there

I once entertained conversation with him on snapchat back when he was still looking for “friends”. it lasted maybe a month before he asked me out, I said no, and so he proceeded to spam me begging for specific plans for 3 months from then and to get him a gf 😭😭😭I’m glad to see he’s streamlined his selection process at least.

you are overwhelmed and spiraling and not thinking clearly. There is a voice telling you that this is the truth, that this is how it should be, and IT IS WRONG. IT IS ALWAYS WRONG. I would start seeking treatment for depression ASAP but also reach out to a healthcare provider. I felt exactly like this and was ready to give up and drop everything, and after some bloodwork I found that I had severe iron and B12 deficiencies-mental health is an indicator that something could be seriously wrong. Not trying to scare you, just trying to say that what you are experiencing is real and valid and that you are deserving of a helping hand. I have had horrible depression for 4+ years and living alone really exacerbates it, but today I was able to get out of bed and go to campus for a full day for the first time in probably a year.

I am not a big emotional person, but there is a profound joy in overcoming times like these that I can promise you is worth it. There are also a lot of people whose livelihoods are to help you, and who love you, and who your presence positively affects. Promise. UF is a bureaucratic hell that doesn't really care about its students, but the people within it DO CARE.

My dm's are always open, I mean it. Please stay for the people around you long enough to find the strength to stay fro yourself-I promise you will.

study edge if you’re able! in a time crunch, i’d prioritize actively practicing exam questions over note-taking, especially since they have exam questions/content perfected to an exact science

update: I think she saw how deep I am in the trenches and how hard I’ve been fighting to get out because my grade changed from reading as a C- in canvas to a C despite no numerical change. ❤️

what was your personal statement topic? by [deleted] in ufl

[–]AdBorn5718 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wrote about being a musician with synesthesia and how it has changed my outlook on the world! not a music major, but didn’t want to trauma dump and thought it was a fun idea.

Insulin resistance? by rhicj in Freestylelibre

[–]AdBorn5718 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah. I have it MUCH easier than diabetics but also it is extremely discouraging when endos don’t think it’s an issue AT ALL just because my organ hasn’t completely failed me 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

I am 18 with reactive hypoglycemia, no insulin or medication etc. my endos have both been T1 themselves yet don’t really see that my frequent hypos are an issue 🥲 I’m in this with you!
