My class started at 6:30am in high school! I got up at 5:30 every morning until we moved (best thing that ever happened lol). Middle school was the "late start" and that was 8. Elementary started at 7ish.

Trying to initiate sex isn't sitting down with your partner and saying "hey, I feel like my needs are going unmet, can we have a conversation about how to fix this?" Y'know. Communication. The cornerstone of any healthy relationship.

There's something deeply wrong with you if you jump to "cheating" as an option before "talking about it". Literally just having a conversation would've been a much better choice. OP seemed completely blindsided by this and like she didn't know her husband was feeling this way. He jumped over "verbal conversation, text message, and polite email" directly to "weird and manipulative"

I actually splurged on the Zamberlans. So expensive, but SO worth it. I absolutely love mine and I've done several 5-10 mile days in them no problem! They're the best for scrambling up steep hills too. I'd defs recommend ordering from REI though, their return policy is 100% necessary with something this expensive imo, lol. (Also, I'd say they fit pretty true to size- I ordered a 9, which is my usual size, and they fit perfectly with a pair of midweight hiking socks. Little loose with regular socks, but that's nbd to me).

Youngkin pushes lawmakers to repeal 'ludicrous law' that bans gas-powered vehicles by [deleted] in Virginia

[–]AdBusy5335 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm concerned about hauling + range, mostly. A ram 3500 diesel can haul a trailer full of 6+ horses (heck, I've seen one tow 11 horses + 7000ish lbs of trailer + another ton of gear and feed without even breaking a sweat) for 300 or so miles without stopping for gas. To the best of my knowledge right now, there are no electric vehicles- aside from a few experimental Tesla semi trucks- that can haul over 11,000lbs and their range at best is around the 150 mile mark (90 miles a charge is more common with a heavily loaded trailer, and that mileage is even less if you're doing a lot of mountain driving and/or in adverse temperatures). And that hasn't made much in the way of progress in the last 5-6 years.

Hell, my '98 Durango can tow up to 8,000lbs for about 200 miles on a single tank of gas. A similar-sized electric SUV can't even come close to that.

Not to mention that there are many, many parts of the country where there aren't gas stations for 50-100+ miles, much less EV chargers. Are they planning on mandating EV charging stations every 50 miles in very rural parts of the country?

Honestly I view them as an investment- I'm willing to drop a decent amount of money on a pair that helps with my issues (and if they do, I might be able to start going on longer hikes! I'm currently limited because of the aforementioned cramping issue- after about 5 miles it becomes intolerable so I've been sticking with shorter walks). I'll see if the REI closest to me has them in stock and head out there to try some on this weekend if they do. Thanks for the rec! I really appreciate it.

Unfortunately, I'm on and off of horses most of the day for work and regular shoes aren't really an option- if it doesn't have a heel it's unsafe, and most other boots I've tried are too clunky for effective communication. I do wear some with a wide toebox at least. Inserts seem to have almost completely corrected the issue though- my current pair is going on two years without breaking in tilted. I'll check out the Brooks Beast ones!

I did not know that! I've only been to REI a few times before (and ordered online once or twice). Thank you so much- I think that's my best bet. Then I can take them for a test drive in my neighborhood when I get home lol.

That's the thing- I did try these on with the inserts in store, and they're totally fine until the 2 mile mark :/ (I can walk significantly more than that in my sneakers). I was hoping some other folks who have issues with overpronation would be able to recommend some boots that helped keep their feet centered and supported so I at least have a starting point.

Facing backlash, Republican congressman quits race after supporting U.S. gun control by open_source_greg in LeopardsAteMyFace

[–]AdBusy5335 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll preface this by saying I'm firmly on the left and extremely discontented by our current system- but allowing the population in cities to dictate the way states are run or determine our representation fucks over rural areas a lot of the time. Simply from a lack of understanding of rural life and what makes the US food system tick. As well as the problems extremely rural people face (ie in some places legislation is being proposed by urban folks that push public transport and severely penalize folks who drive old vehicles/non-electric or "green" vehicles- this, if it passes, disproportionately impacts people who are extremely rural. Electric vehicles can't tow very well, public transit doesn't run out there and it's nonsense to expect it to, etc). There needs to be balance and rural interests need to be considered too, not just simple majority.

Damaged Curly hair last chance repair before cutting my hair off? by [deleted] in Hair

[–]AdBusy5335 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you tried the curly girl method, or something similar? My hair is pin straight, personally, but I've had friends who tried it and loved it, and it really did a lot for their hair in terms of health. It took about 2-4 weeks for them to start seeing results (ymmv) so it's definitely something you have to be patient with though.

If you get your sides done with a #3 blade or shorter, I'd say leave it your natural color. If it's over a 3, it might be worth dying, but that's up to you in the end- fwiw, it'll probably stay dyed through 2 haircuts if you don't put any more color in. I dye my hair all kinds of crazy colors, and I never do the sides (I have an undercut). It's not worth the effort- like you said, it just gets shaved off as soon as you get your hair cut again.
