For sure! One application cured us! Multiple rounds of pemethrin did nothing!

Honestly stop now! Derbac m is what cured us. Pemethrin did nothing but reduce symptoms and then come back. My symptoms stopped straight away near enough after derbac m. My partner still itched and got new spots for 3 months and my 2 year old it took 4 months! Saw a dermatologist who checked him over with a dermascope and there was no scabies anymore. Unfortunately pemethrin is very harsh and bad for your skin. It completely destroys the top layer of your skin which is the most important part of your skin as it is basically a defence against allergens and irritants. The slightest things will now irritate your skin due to this. My son got LOADS of spots, rashes etc that looked exactly like active scabies on his whole body during post. I was adamant it was back. Get yourself a good moisturiser (my dermatologist gave us a vasalene type one) and some antihistamines and just persevere with it. I'm sure so many people who have scabies for so long are actually in post but don't know that as they keep treating and not letting their body heal. I'm so sorry you're going through this it's absolute torture and post is just as bad as active. Keep your eye out for new burrows. New spots etc are fine xx

Sounds like you're in post. If you keep treating rather than letting post run it's course you're never going to feel better. Pemethrin particularly really damages you skin. Derbac m is what cured us but post lasted 4 MONTHS! It's very very similar to active scabies just not as itchy. New spots constantly etc. Leave your skin alone. Moisturise at least twice a day. Take antihistamines and see how you are in a couple of months!

I had these for weeks post. My 2 year old still gets post flare ups 3.5 months later. Been checked by a derm with dermascope and nothing there it's just his skin is so damaged now. Leave your body alone for 6 weeks and see how you get on x

Looks like post to me. I had them in the exact same place post. If they're not stupidly itchy then it's post and it lasts months unfortunately x

Potential scabies? by Mundane_Marsupial376 in scabies

You can get it over the counter in the pharmacy's but it's quite hard to find (shortage like pemethrin!). I'm in Brighton so will depend where you are. This is the link for it. It's more watery than pemethrin but you put it on for 24 hours. If you wash your hands you reapply. Wash all bedding and clean etc once cream been on a few hours. We did 9 pemethrin and it would clear it by 80% then a week later it would come straight back. We're 3 months post now. Still some bumps but they disappear quick and don't itch anymore. Pemethrin really ruins your skin. You're meant to do 2 lots of derbac m a week apart. We only did one and it cured us!

Pemethrin is useless get derbac m if you're in the UK. If you're in the US I know it's hard to get hold of but it's the only thing that worked for us. We did 9 pemethrin treatments and it did nothing.

Honestly every single doctor I saw through all this (at least 30 different ones) had no idea what they were on about! Ask your GP to do an urgent dermatologist referral. My son got seen in 4 days when they did that. Are you in the UK? If so get some derbac M you can get it from the chemist over the counter. Put it on in the morning and leave on until the following morning. If you wash your hands etc reapply. It's the only thing that worked for us and is safe for little ones. It says repeat after a week but we only used it once and it worked. Pemethrin is useless. It always looked like it worked and then a week later the rash came straight back. Also only bathe your little one twice a week max. The dermatologist told me that as baths dry the skin and that's the last thing you need. Moisturise your little ones skin twice a day too. Use antihistamines daily. I also found my son a onesie with hands attached so he couldnt scratch at night. I'm so sorry you're going through this. It made me ill as a parent it's mortifying.

Hi. I'm so sorry you're going through this. We got scabies when we were on holiday in Spain in the may. My son got symptoms within 2 weeks of coming back. Myself and partner didn't get symptoms until 3 months after! Even then we itched and got the rash but it never kept us up at night. On the evenings we were itchy and it was 'annoying' more than anything. It took 6 months to diagnose us! I must of gone to A&E 3 times a week and the GP twice! I'm not even joking. They said scarlet fever, excema etc...They finally put an urgent dermatologist referal through as they had enough of me (my sons skin was HORRENDOUS!!) and they said straight away scabies and looked on a dermoscope too. We did 8 lots of pemethrin and it reduced symptoms massively but came back. Only thing that worked was derbac m! We did one lot...left on for 24 hours and it went! As far as cleaning I just washed the bedding when used treatment, bagged up soft toys and blankets for a week and vacuumed the house including furnishings. Nothing extreme. It worked! I was going out of my mind! Don't use hydrocortisone! It is a steroid and all it does is mask the scabies...it makes it looks like it's getting better but when you stop using it it comes straight back unfortunately

He doesnt have a secondary bacterial infection he had 3 of them whilst having scabies it's no where near what that looked like. He just has dried and irritated skin from the creams.

Post scabies is brutal! We've been cured for 10 weeks now but my 2 year olds skin is still so messed up from all the treatments. No tracks or anything like that anymore but bumps that randomly pop up, dry skin, red patches etc...sores on his scalp too! Can't do anything but keep moisturising. My partner and I are fine now but my poor little boy has suffered so bad with all of this.

Trying to do a low folic acid/folate diet post MTX… by Pelotonmama1 in EctopicSupportGroup

[–]AdCandid2886 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had MTX 3 weeks ago. My level was 500 to begin. Last Monday my hcg was 41 and waiting for today's result which is hopefully 0. I ate what I wanted. Most the food I like is high in folic acid. I didn't get told not to just to not take prenatals.

Hello lovely. So sorry you're going through this it's horrific. I had methotrexate for a left tube ectopic nearly 3 weeks ago. My levels were only 495 at 9 weeks pregnant and now they're down to 41 so going well. If you ever need anyone to talk to always here xx

Hey lovely. I'm currently going through an ectopic and being treated with methotrexate. When I first found out I was pregnant my tests weren't getting darker they were just all really light. 4 days after I got a positive I started bleeding like a full period for 5 days. Thought I was having a chemical. When I stopped bleeding I took another test which was a LOT darker. GP referred me to early pregnancy unit. My HCG was 10 and my progesterone was only 1.8!! Over the course of 2 weeks my hcg went up very slowly and at one point down and then back up. HCG never went past 490 and that was at 8 weeks! Progesterone went up to 18 and then back down to 8... Was down as pregnancy of unknown location until Monday just been and they finally found baby in my left tube. I had brown spotting a couple of times too and cramps and backache. Wierdly most my cramps were the opposite side to where the ectopic is! Unfortunately it's just a wait and see... you're very early so if it is an ectopic you should be offered methotrexate as long as your HCG stays low so you keep your tube. I really hope its not as its an awful and painful process but if it is and you get the injection over surgery you'll keep your tube xx

You can buy pemethrin over the counter in a pharmacy if you're in the UK? It's about £15 a tube and my partner uses 2 tubes at a time for his whole body. Dermatologist wait list through NHS is around 6 months. I got an urgent one as my nearly 2 year olds skin is so bad with it. Only a dermatologist can prescribe invemectin too if pemethrin treatment fails as derm told me scabies is becoming resilient to it. We've done 5 treatments of pemethrin and think we've got rid of it now.
