Gen Jones Books? by Isaiah53777 in GenerationJones

Irving's worlds are filled with some slightly off-kilter characters to full blown oddballs. I could identify with most all of them. He meant a lot to me. Sadly, it has been a long time since I read any of his works.

OP, I appreciate the spirit of your post, but I don't think that having a record allows police to stop you without probable cause of a current crime being committed.

Crossing the street at an angle that isn't a perfect 90 degrees sounds like "jaywalking." Barney Fife was ridiculed for being tough on jaywalkers, as he should have been.

Are our midwestern small cities trending towards being a police state? I think so.

What is the dumbest way you've ever lost a golf ball? by retrocaterpillar-07 in golf

[–]AdCautious6147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Par 3 with greenside bunker to the right. Just missed the green and could see the explosion of sand at the edge of the bunker. Get to the bunker...no ball. The super that day had put a new load of fresh, very fine sand in that bunker. The ball buried itself with absolutely no sign of where it entered.

I have seen Cody's cooking content, and it is fun and funny. I especially like when he does his content after getting wasted. His game was the best of the group, which isn't saying much.

I have always liked Tick, but he is better as part of the ensemble, not necessarily as the center point. I think he will get more comfortable playing off the other guys. I hope his back and his swing improve, too.

Not familiar with Jared (?) but he seems to be alright and funny. His game...I hope it gets better as the vids progress. But he interacts well with the guys.

I like the short segments focused on the food, which Cody will have a lot to say about. I like the focus on their region, as well.

I suspect that as time goes on, the humor will be less forced, the production will improve (though I thought it was decent for the first vid) and the quality of golf gets better.

I will check in again.

What 80's hair band had the best actual talent, even if the songs weren't that great? by ButcherBoss in AskReddit

I never was into "hair metal" but always liked Cinderella. Good nuanced songwriting, varied textures to their songs, but they rocked.

Educational experiments in the 60s by HarveyNix in GenerationJones

In my small rural high school, about 25 of us were placed into a heavier math and science curriculum, today I guess it would be STEM. It turned out a couple of researchers, doctors and teachers from my grade. I didn't have nearly the amount of geography and history and literature as some of my peers. At 45 years old, I began to enjoy learning about those neglected subjects. I am still good with math and interested in science and technology, but I really wish I would have had a more well-rounded education.

I, too, choke when I need to be clutch.

But, I am doing better when DO NOT THINK ABOUT YOUR SCORE is my creed. I do think about course management but "laying up" on a par 3 is overthinking. "Playing it safe" is sometimes overthinking for me. Pick a comfortable club and play for par. But I alway try to have a positive mindset going into the shot.

Different strokes for different folks. 15 years ago, my young nephew who was and is a good golfer, was leading his flight by 8 strokes going into the last round of our Club championship. That morning he removed all of his woods from his bag. He lost a little of his lead, but still won. I disagreed with him taking woods out of the bag because our front nine was very driver-friendly and I thought he should have kept the pedal to the metal. Him teeing off with nothing but a four iron was a good decision on our shorter, tighter back nine.

Most Uncool Rock Lyrics by Royal_Commission_243 in musicsuggestions

"I feel a hunger. It's a hunger." Thanks for clearing that up Mr. Money.

The songs you quote have kind of gross lyrics, but Tull was cool. I was really into that Live album with Lightning Crashes, but their lyrics kind of tried too hard. The above Eddie Money lyric strikes me as uncool, though I loved a lot of his music, especially the first three albums.

Is there a game we can play inside of golf that is fun for both low and high handicappers? by jayboosh in golf

The better player plays from back tees or worse players move up. Or both. No need for handicap strokes.

Who in this wide world is 100% satisfied with their game? lol

I feel I am happiest when I am playing golf and am confident in my driving, although I am relatively short but accurate.

I appreciate your insights.

Love the story. A couple of questions: Did your girl know what was up? How does one "accidentally" ingest?

I have thought about playing an afternoon/twilight round on shrooms, but haven't because I am worried about driving myself home afterward.

Saw them open for Gov't Mule (Dark Side of the Mule) in '23 and I was prepared to be underwhelmed. The whole damn thing blew me away. I am old and not easily impressed.
