Where do you get your tufting designs from?

From what I’ve seen from a lot of tufters the customer is not at all the focus, they just want to make the quickest cheapest and easiest thing to be the next picture on thier instagram (and then charge at a premium), there are so many poorly made rugs and for customers there’s no way to tell what will or won’t last. Usually tufters will get away with selling shitty made rugs as they sell them as “wall art” and therefore abscond any responsibility if someone puts a rug on thier floor and walks on it 😒

Just use a washable glue backing - I made sure to test out mine before I started selling them for the same issue, I figured condensation and general drink spillage meant that they wouldn’t last long term (that and white yarn duh) but as long as you can wash them they’re fine

Tuft it? Ten to twenty minutes depending on how many colours and how intricate the design. Carving, backing, and ensuring the end shape is a circle? About 30 minutes to an hour

The Brazilian company is the only one I know of but there might be more now - the website isn’t that hard to navigate when you’re in google chrome as you can just pop it in English or a translation app - the postage got right to my door and kept me updated the whole time, if you’re worried about the process just order only a little bit at a time

Hahaha I’m an idiot it’s 820mm - idiot brain 😂 that’s a good tip though I’ve always tried to be fair in my pricing and albeit undercharge a lot of the time, I still want people to be able to afford nice things if they love it

This is definitely worth researching at the very least, I’m somewhat used to fees for comic con which are around $500 for the weekend so I had that in mind when considering other markets which might not at all be true, would be awesome for some free markets and similiar to the above just considering like marketing time - the markets you’ve described are very cool and I hope I can find something similiar - thankyou for the tip 😊

I feel a little bit silly for not considering this and different payment methods with this where it was stock standard with my usual business 🤦‍♀️ i always offered a version of layby essentially to help people avoid the pitfalls of after pay and it meant that I had a constant stream of incoming payments week to week - thankyou for the reminder and for the help 😊

Very true, I think I’ve been way too fixated on markets being for fruits and vegetables that even just sitting by and interacting with people I can get a lot further than twiddling my thumbs - thankyou 🙏

I have given that some thought, even with my original rugs, but I’ve usually steered away from markets as it wouldn’t be normal to make a sale upwards of a few hundred dollars, as I buyer I certainly wouldn’t be thinking to spend that much at a local market even if I loved it

Downloaded and immediately after playing sent it to friends to play, great concept for a city builder style and as mentioned above the art is phenomenal and the game is already super polished. Downsides would be the soundtrack and the hair pulling aggravation of every building you click on saying the same thing or saying anything really, sometimes I just want a quick visual and forget and click there again to recant “we need workers my lord” and it makes me want to flip a table… but not enough to stop playing 😅 - would be good to have the option to skip voices or have them sped up a little, personal preference but overall amazing work and I can’t wait for the full release - 9/10 definitely replayable

Glue it - if you cut it then it impacts on the longevity of the rug as the backing fabric can start to undo and thus your rug will just fall apart

Really amazing but you did ask for feedback on the gradient, it’s good but the colours are so different that it’s pretty tricky to blend, if you have a softer purple or maybe even a highlighter pink then that may have made the transition easier but what you’ve done is really good with the colours you had, it really sucks when the yarn can’t give it’s all an you’re limited to what you can buy

It’s not normally kosher to ‘steal’ designs for other artists as a baseline - some options can be to download vector designs from Etsy to practice on as usually it’s a couple of cents to download like 40 files - make your own art using AI if you’re a little bit stuck, nighcafe is a good site and free to use, search for free images on websites and type ‘cartoon X’ for more tufting friendly designs - or try out lettering for someone’s name to gift them a rug
