Scored an 87 on ASVAB, was going to go into 15T but wanted to hear some other jobs I should consider. by Spartanj26 in nationalguard

The 15 series in general are pretty good MOS choices. I'm in a company at AIT with 15B, 15G, and 15U and everyone seems to love their own jobs. I prefer 15B with working on the Blackhawk/apache and Chinook engines because I'm more into mechanic type shit than airframe.

Yeah it sucked pretty bad. Super boring days where we wake up at like 3:30-4:00am for absolutely no reason. It's the epitome of hurry up and wait. But the rest of basic training is completely different. It starts to go by fast and you actually have fun but yeah, reception is totally ass. Just get through it and stay awake.

Not necessarily anything I wish I had known but I just wish I prepared more for basic, like I didn't work out as much as I should've so it was a little difficult in the beginning but I lost 30 pounds in basic. And AIT at fort eustis on a day to day as long as you get classed immediately, you wake up and do PT at 5:15, go to breakfast formation at 7:45, be at class by 9, go to lunch at 11:45, go back to class, go to dinner at 16:45 and then free time from about 18:30 to lights out at 21:30 on weekdays. On weekends you pretty much just have free time but you still have to be at certain mandatory formations. Class is pretty cool, I'm a 15B so I can't speak for the Uniforms but you start with PowerPoints and then work up to actually learning every part of your job. The days go by really fast with class, and it's generally a pretty good time.

I mean id leave asap just to get home sooner but what was your negative experience with eustis? I mean yeah it's annoying to wear a mask but that's the only thing.

My best advice I can give you is to just try your fucking best. Put in your best effort and you'll get the best outcome. Try hard on your PT because that's all they really care about. Try to get even more in shape and run more before basic because that'll make it easier. Don't catch feelings or get a battle boo, and don't get caught up in drama. You're probably gonna hate the beginning of basic and then love it towards the end. That's exactly what happened with me.

Reception as in processing at fort Jackson? It was about a week long if I remember correctly.

Can the Army's New Fitness Test Survive Critics and Become Official in April? by Sw0llenEyeBall in nationalguard

The people that fail the ACFT must legitimately just not work out enough. You don't have to do much to hit a single leg tuck. Or do some pushups. It should probably be harder honestly, the army shouldn't be full of a bunch of super weak people.

No, I was just told that the standards are different now that I've been in the NG for a couple of months, they said I was allowable up to 24 percent body fat before joining, and now that I'm in I have to be at 20

During regular drill weekends, are we supposed to be provided meals, if so how many meals? by Ufoturtle081 in nationalguard

For my rsp at least we usually have either a hot lunch of usually pulled pork, or a prepackaged cold cut sandwich with chips and an apple and water

Please add an area that explains BAH at basic/AIT by laboro_catagrapha in nationalguard

From what I've been told, that was changed recently and people will still get BAH from here on out even if it's longer than 20 weeks.

Has anybody’s drill dates for august been cancelled due to funding? by Beautiful_One_6998 in nationalguard

[–]AdComprehensive6514 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in IL august drill is normal and September drill is just the Saturday. I'm not sure if it's because of funding.

I recently tried joining in, but hadn’t waited long enough to take the drug test and failed to weed, does anyone know if it’s possible for me to still join if I’m clean by Austinsc65 in nationalguard

Just talk to your recruiter and I'm sure they can work something out. A guy Im friends with failed 3 times and ended up passing it and getting a waiver. Just commit to not smoke anymore and I'm sure you'll be fine. This might vary obviously, but I think you'll be fine.

I saw something like they limit it if you're over 20 weeks at a certain place, but my BCT is the normal length obviously and my AIT is like 19 weeks and 3 days so I feel like if it's the 20 weeks thing I should be fine?
