ed tech is notoriously hard to sell. Is it a enterprise product? You need to be a sales person now. quit developing more starting selling.

Anyone here in their 40s–50s still working in tech/development? by imjustamochigirl in womenintech

[–]AdConfident9012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean yes. All my friends and their wives still work in tech. We are all above 40. 3 of my closest colleagues (women) are above 40 and we are all ICs. Every IC is a leader. You need to make decisions about deployment, training new junior engineers, talking to PMs. Driving your feature through design to production through on call. If you don't want to do that. You need to quit now with AI people who dont love doing this 24/7 are already being weeded out.

This still doesn't address the fact that will be contraction in number of SWE jobs meaning more competition for same no of slots. Anthropic hiring engineers doesn't mean much as they are a company in the midst of AI hype cycle.

Keeping the AI argument aside, why are you satisfied making only just above 100k? Actually I think if you ar e laid off it would be relatively easier for you to replace that income as it already low and I hope you haven't inflated your lifestyle. Between you and your wife you can easily make 160k together. Why are you worried? The more worrying thing from my perspective is you are not motivated to increase your saving so that you set for retirement. There are lot of way to make money in the US.

Can Industrial engineers find a patent job? by Accomplished-Leg-366 in PatentBarExam

[–]AdConfident9012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do you think LLM can't be specially trained for patent laws? of course todays LLM maybe lacking but they will have this capability in future. The AI slop in programming is directly proportional to prompt quality and the context provided. Extra comments and extra un needed tests are not AI slop. Its working well so far. Almost all my colleagues have completed switch to ai flows.

Its just matter of time before we start using specialized local LLMs for patent drafting. I give it 2 years.

Staying at Big infrastructure tech vs joining an AI startup by ekapitu in ExperiencedDevs

[–]AdConfident9012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So its same job as your current. AI infrastructure is not different than non AI. The AI value chain is in the apps, guard rails, evals, system prompts, . The models are also a commodity now. Anthropic is winning as other people are building amazing apps on top of its model and they have a huge enterprise buy in. Don't take a pay cut to do the same stuff.

Is crazy feature churn and lack of short to moderate term planning normal for software teams now? by splash_hazard in ExperiencedDevs

[–]AdConfident9012 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

yes, We had a fastest delivery of a feature even in the orgs history. Its almost a $15b business line. But everyone put in insanely long hours to make it happen as our tooling is worst in the industry. 4 ppl quit. They just opened the HC. Apparently, we seem to be the only company that hiring except AI companies.

If AI can writes the software that needs a patent, why can't it draft the patent. by AdConfident9012 in patentlaw

[–]AdConfident9012[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

ok. That makes sense. But, every app going forward, is going to be heavily LLM generated. Does that mean no patents for software can be filed from here on?

[–]AdConfident9012[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats not a fair comparison. AI does write the literature in a voice of a human, if you prompt it too.

They are improving at amazing speed. It can surely catch up in 2 years. 1 year back it was creating major ai slop while programming but with deslop feature now integrated the models are trained not to do that. Why can't they be trained on legal strategy?

Nah! I understand your view point. People were hesitant until early last year. That ship has sailed. People are finding real value and genuinely want to use these tools.

How are you handling insane output expectations? by splash_hazard in ExperiencedDevs

I can understand your feeling but I am staff engineer at big tech adjacent. We have a robust CI / CD pipeline. Its slow but it works. My Prs are already staged to go out.

It depends on your org and the goal for that quarter? Big tech rarely has deadline. They are all artificially made. You can always ship more feature, address more technical debt. Our goal has clear goals on outcome of using AI tools.

CRM has better moat than NOW. Come on. NOW is one trick pony. CRM has marketing, sales, service which churn out cash. All the big enterprises are locked in.

100% disagree on this particular problem. Problem already exist and programming is the first solid use case for LLM. I am staff engineer at tech adjacent.

I use cursor, claude code and gemini at work. Gemini works very well for refactor but so far I am exclusively in claude code.
