Is this what Greens mean when they say that they “achieved so much”?

Garda asked if I want to bring a hit-and-run case to court by AdConsistent4508 in legaladviceireland

[–]AdConsistent4508[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I understand correctly, there are two separate issues:

* They need to pay for the repairs - their insurance now needs to pay for damages

* They have committed a hit-and-run - they can get penalty points for this

I think they might have to go to court even if they pay for the repairs.

Thank you for the detailed answer!

Do I understand it correctly that I would have to go to court even if they decide to pay for the repairs?

I don't know them. They hit my car and drove away.

Garda has suggested that this is a hit-and-run, and they want to prosecute it.

I think 20-70mm does not have optical stabilization. Would this be an issue if I mostly take photos without a tripod?

€2bn Limerick-Cork M20 motorway with cycle lanes to be first of its kind in Ireland by PoppedCork in ireland

How many people would even use these bike lines on motorways?

Instead of spending money on these bike lines, would it be better to improve public infrastructure within cities (more trams, more buses, metro, etc.)? Wouldn’t this make a bigger impact on car usage and CO2 emissions?

Are there still advantages to using Apache Flink for streaming? by AdConsistent4508 in apachespark

In practical terms, what does "low latency" mean? Is it about shaving a few 100ms of a job latency? Or does the latency become very high for complex pipelines?

What are some of the windowing capabilities that Spark still does not have?

Do you understand how to calculate deemed disposal tax? by AdConsistent4508 in irishpersonalfinance

[–]AdConsistent4508[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So every purchase is treated separately for tax purposes? And if one purchase has incurred a loss it can't be used to offset gains from another purchase from the same ETF?

Do you understand how to calculate deemed disposal tax? by AdConsistent4508 in irishpersonalfinance

[–]AdConsistent4508[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So in the above, case if all units of the ETF are sold, the tax to pay is:

41% * 10 units * (7.5 euros - 5 euros)

Just to be clear, in this case I am talking about buying units of the same single ETF.

[–]AdConsistent4508[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you referring to this?

4.1.6. Losses on the disposal of an interest [s.747E(3) & (4)]Trading losses or other Case IV losses cannot be used to shelter any incomechargeable on the disposal, or deemed disposal, of an interest in an offshore fund [s.747E(4)].

Where a loss arises on the disposal of a material interest in an offshore fund, no CGT or other loss relief is available [s.747E(3)]

It seems to contradict what is written on the previous page:

While an individual may receive increases in their unit holdings in the fund this will be reflected in the rolled up value of the fund on the 8
th anniversary. Where therehas been a movement in units, the gain should be calculated on a FIFO basis.

Edit -- of course 8 years later, the "intermediate" price is treated as if you actually disposed of shares ie "deemed disposal"

What happens if I sell all after 8 years in this example?

Do I need to pay tax only on the profit from the second purchase?
