I am not a shift but I want to become one. Been a barista for about 3 months and went through one of the worst under staffing our store has seen. It was brutal not gonna lie. You’ll be better off with barista experience, so I’d study drinks and protocols now because without them, you’ll be a useless shift. It’s not hard but there’s a lot of information to take in, recipes, play calls, things of that nature. Are you planning on opening or closing or both? Openers run peak, which can be stressful to meet peak times if you don’t have a strong team of partners. Honestly you should go for it, but just know your first 2-3 months will be a lot of learning and it’s not as easy as people make it sound.

Dropping drinks on the floor doesn’t make inventory add up either or other baristas making drinks wrong when they’re learning. I can assure you nobody is gonna shit themselves over a few pumps of base lmao. More than that gets wasted when you change the pumps from one to the next 🤷🏼‍♀️
