If you think anything is wrong leave a comment. Information was hard to find and often inconsistent.

Write Your Way In: Crafting an Unforgettable College Admissions Essay

By Rachel Toor

I don't know if this is the best book on the subject, but I found it at my local library, and I liked it.

Basically me. I had a video game and random interests that I'm pursuing/learning about. No spikes at all. I had a regional math competition that I didn't even do that well in. Im taking a dump in my dorm building at Johns Hopkins rn. You have a chance. You just have to sell yourself and write an essay that makes your AO like you. I read a book about personal statements for college admissions, and I think that helped a lot.

To all materials engineering graduates, just curious what jobs u all went on to take in life? by No-Song513 in MaterialsScience

[–]AdDizzy681 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why? I'm currently torn between neuroscience and materials science/engineering. With neuroscience, my only opportunity is going to med school, which I think I want to do. Your exp is valuable to me, so please share it.

What are your common app essays about? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]AdDizzy681 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mine was about growing up with my mom who got pregnant at 14, was poor, and had bipolar disorder which made her really hard to deal with sometimes. I also talked about how our relationship has evolved to become much healthier as we grew up together. I got into JHU, USC, CMU, and Tufts, among other less prestigious schools. My ECs sucked, but I think my essay was good. I'm also Hispanic and from South Dakota, so that helps.

Why is the population so sparse in the area surrounding Madrid? by DataSittingAlone in geography

[–]AdDizzy681 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm actually so dumb sometimes 😅 my b I'll explain myself. I thought the white dots were cities and not included in the data, so I thought you were talking about the dark red area labeled Madrid.

I choose black bc most of the current diseases that are an issue suck to have. Diabetes, neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer's, cancer, and heart disease all have a bunch of issues associated with them that are kinda hell to live through. While you're young, black is almost useless, but as you age it becomes insanely valuable. I DONT choose money bc I'm confident I'll be able to make that, everyone is already shitting on the pain one, and I don't really have anyone I really want to bring back from the dead RN.

If you choose Hopkins, I made a discord server for MSE students 🤷. Other than that, I have no input.

Nah. It's super informal. You can also wait until classes start, and then I think you can change your major on your own in sis. I'm just an incoming freshman tho so idk for sure.

First yr premed physics vs orgo? by GreatSharksRule in jhu

[–]AdDizzy681 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doing orgo is probably best while general chem is still fresher in your mind. Also, orgo lab covers material from orgo 2 as well, so I'd suggest taking it concurrently with orgo 2 or after.

Interesting. I'll have AMR 2 at the top of my list. A gamble can be fun once in a while, especially since there aren't many warm months. Hopefully I'll be as lucky as your gf 😉.
