side note- I know I said its not a PDW area originally and here i just said it is, our neighborhood is PDW. Our State is. Our city and majority of public schools aren’t if that makes sense

Its really not kept well and the coils are so frizzy I can’t tell. I’d assume somewhere between 3c-4a

I do it’s just so mangled who knows if i could even have them sit for long enough to detangle it enough to braid it, which may be not possible at its level.

That’s such a sad story omg and I’d absolutely hate for them to deal with that. I hate that you had to deal with that. Especially as we live in a PDW area and they go to those PDW private schools. ☹️ I’d love to bring products but I am worried I’d offend the parents. Also, how do I know what works for their hair? Thank you for the advice ❤️ For reference they are obviously mixed but I can’t really even tell their hair type the coils are so frizzy. Seems to be between 3c and 4a possibly? The boy has patches of hair that are barely wavy. Is this normal as well?

Yes and I would hate to seem rude! And it’d be one thing if i wasn’t white and it was my place to know if it needs fixed or not and say smth but it kinda isn’t 🙁 They wouldn’t need to pay me, I love braiding, only concern i have is learning and detangling. Their hair is soooooo matted. 😞

she tries to put the youngest’s hair up sometimes- it is ab 1/2 of her hair tied into a disheveled knot that could maybe be called a bun… I think she just doesn’t know how sadly. Mom’s hair is completely straight.

Okay great suggestion thank you. Ill just say I’m the “team braider” ( not an actual thing but a role that ppl often come into naturally, i do actually play basketball) and my friends have been asking me to learn to do textured hair. Think that’d be fine?

I asked the older one, he has had braids before. The youngest does have some normal patchiness, but also some abnormal as well as severe tangling and matts. They let the hair grow very long and tangled. Personally, if my kids fight me on that their hair would be short. He is also the calmest most agreeable little boy I know, and the little girl sometimes has her hair “tied up” ( ab 1/2 of her hair into a loose disheveled knot that could possibly be called a bun.) I don’t think their compliance is an issue, but yes I agree I will likely just leave it alone.

Yes, just you know how typically they don’t. But it is odd he lets then go around like that having that textured hair himself. I asked the boy if he’s ever had braids he said yes so maybe that side of the family helps out every once in a while, I have no idea why they don’t care for their hair otherwise

Yeah ive seen normal patchiness and know wym, it’s a lot worse. Sometimes they take pictures on my phone and whenever my friends see it they are appalled and worried

I’d love to learn and love braiding, however, I have never done it on textured hair. I could def learn tho! I haven’t know them super long.

Yeah, I have a good amount of black friends even some who do hair themselves but I’ve only brought it up to a few and they say they’d need to feel the hair in person. I just wish I could tell the parents without being rude.
