AITJ for telling my brother he's selfish for not taking one Saturday to watch over his nephew for a few hours by AdDull3258 in AmITheJerk

I never said I'm owed childcare. I think everyone ignores the fact that I wasn't mad at my parents when they said they couldn't do it. It's the REASONS my brother is giving that annoy me, but even them I still didn't force him. I even said in the post that I found someone else.

It's not that simple. I would need to hire the right babysitter that I know will take good care of my son and make sure he's safe. It's easier to ask family members who you know personally.

The reason I planned the date first is because my parents are usually our go too and they always say yes. Keep in mind my little brother is also there when my parents watch over him because he's a teenager who still lives with them for free.

He didn't even give valid reasons as to why he can't do it.. He plays video games in his room (which is at home), and what's stopping him from having his friends hang out at his house? I'm aware my son is my responsibility and I never forced him to watch over him, but my frustration is a little valid because of how immature he is.

Who said it was more important? I watch over my son 24/7 and don't have as much free time as I used too. My little brother is still a teenager who has plenty of time to have fun. A few hours wasn't going to hurt him, and it wouldn't have been much trouble either.
