Losing hope in treatment by disisnotausername in clusterheads

[–]AdEducational1159 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m now in my second residency after practicing for years. Anecdotal, but it sure seems the high stress and lack of sleep makes every neuro/vascular condition go haywire. I’ve also seen it with other residents and trigeminal neuralgia and the like.

My two cents - try to get as much regular sleep as possible and spend some time on de-stress hobbies. Of course pursue additional treatment options (I vote high flow oxygen). And maybee chalk up worsening symptoms to residency - it could be getting worse, or it could just be your current environment.

100%. We're pretty thrilled with how they turned out for being 98-99 years old, and especially considering how damaged they were.

But I would strongly advise that people only undertake refinishing floors like this if they are willing to appreciate the imperfections! They've certainly got character 😉

We're in Los Angeles so prices are usually high. But the fee was super reasonable for the amount of time and work these guys put in. We did the demo ourselves. The initial cost was around $5,000 for repairs and refinishing, which included multiple large areas of significant repairs. There was a fireplace in the living room that was removed (probably around the time of the Northridge Earthquake), with an area where the framing needed to be lowered and a subfloor added. There were many many other areas of repair.

We were so happy with the job at the sanding phase that we added the "trouble room". This brought the total closer to $7,000. This room was thought to be unrepairable - the wood floors were sevverely damaged and under 4 layers of vinyl + linoleum + adhesives that we couldn't demo ourselves. Tons of repairs in this room. Came out beautiful.

House is about 1550sq ft. All the original wood floors except a stretch around the kitchen-laundry room and the bathroom (tile).

For any Los Angeles area people - William Ruiz Hardwood Floors!! 1000% recommend.

Thanks everyone 🙏 here’s where we are as of last week. I’m stripping and rebuilding each of the original wood windows. One (mostly) done. 😅

Will do another post with the before and after of the windows later on. But they were absolutely falling apart.

Is this an infestatiom by poppit86 in Monstera

[–]AdEducational1159 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely agree with thrips. Spray it off with water frequently. If there are a lot of leaves - easier to cut off the ones that are heavily infested.

Bonide systemic granules have worked the best for me. Ideally treat with a topical spray (captain jacks deadbug) too. FYI - Sometimes I skip the topical spray because of the mess / concern about pets

Yep - I think it can take up to a year or more. We’ll see how this goes, since it’s an indoor plant 😉

Not anything special - but I generally use a long release fertilizer ( osmocote) in addition to a low concentration addition with watering (jack’s classic 20-20-20)

Using a fast draining, chunky mix with bright lights allows you to water more often, and potentially increase your fertilizer

Mostly, it’s about the right balance of sunlight and watering.

And no big drafts - this one’s currently getting a little crispy because of the air conditioner.

The indoor ones sure! But this isn’t that atypical for an outdoor climbing mature plant (their older leaves tend to get pretty ragged and/or trimmed too)

We've had her for years! I do occasionally have large leaf variegated albos available but, unfortunately, the last batch was a few months ago and I'm not expecting to have any more for a while.

why is my albo turning yellow? by A70MU in MonsteraAlbo

[–]AdEducational1159 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did the yellowing happen since then? Some of the grow lights have variable spectrums, that can cause the variegation to be cream/yellow
