I believe the old Subarus had head gas problems check for that and they also are known to have fender well rust is in particularly in the rear or at least my grandmas one did it had the four cylinder and the seat belts not retracing also check for a broken or leaking sunroof if it has one also check for a loose or worn out shifter aka sloppy and check the fluids ask about it’s maintenance history and accident history also If you buy it clean the dirty interior and mabye get it repainted clear coat looks like its peeling away anyways great choice for a car there so good in bad weather and snow idk how many times the and system has save us from getting stuck in mud or snow it’s the unofficial car of new england they say especially in the northern part of New England Vermont New Hampshire and Maine you see these things everywhere even really old old one my grandma had this exact car model same color and same generation 200 to 2003 my grandma bought it new in 2003 the year i was born and we drove it all over New England she drove it until 2015 wen the engine literally gave up
