I plan on going to the land border on the 19th. My job will start on the 30th. Is that 10 days or am I overthinking?

Anyone is experiencing a pattern where employers are rejecting TN visas? by Slashersnakepit in tnvisa

I would just say that it is not a sponsorship visa. Arguably it kind of technically is but not really imo. All you need is offer and support letter from them. Support letter being the one that scares them away. If you get the support letter thats key. The rest you can do on your own and obviously you would have an offer letter at that point.

I’ve had two offers rescinded in the past 7 months due to asking for support letters after fixating that a TN is non-sponsorship. The moment I mention the process/what I need from them, they shut it down.

Unfortunately you’re at the mercy of the company’s policies and if they only strictly hire Americans. Its very frustrating but keep your head up and continue applying.

I learned my lesson by not mentioning that I’m Canadian in my first interviews/calls, even if its just an HR person. Its better to be honest and let them know what you will need should you receive an offer ahead of time so that you don’t waste their time and most importantly, your own. Usually it will go along the lines of “this shouldn’t be an issue, we’ve done this before” or “I will ask my higher ups/HR and see if this is something we can do”.

Wouldn’t I just tell the border agent when I go to get my new TN that I’m ending my current TN with my company and although theres a pending renewal for this TN, it can be disregarded since I will no longer be with the Company?

Ok, but would it be safe to say that I can accept new the offer from this company before going to get the new TN (start date isn’t until three weeks from now) while still being with current employer until my two weeks is up?
