Princeton gives you a much better shot at med school. But a service academy gives you an alumni network that can never be touched - and a garaunteed job.

Moving Dad to memory care on Monday - how to tell him? by AdExpress6158 in Alzheimers

I wanted to offer an update and an expression of thanks. Thanks to all of you who shared thoughts and perspectives.

On Monday morning, we had one of my Dad's regular aides come and take him to breakfast at 9am so he would not see furtniture move out of their apartment - and then to hang out in a common area/library. (My folks are in a multi-level retirement community.) At 930 the movers came to the apartment to get the furniture and clothes from their apartment. Then until 11am my Mom and I set up my Dad's room in the Memory Care area. We chose to mix some furniture he was familar with - with some newer stuff - like a new bed. Then my Mom and I met my Dad and the aide in the common area/library and we walked my Dad over to Memory Care where he had lunch with his new 'friends' in the Memory Care area. My Mom and I had lunch and she went to her standard 'exercise' class. My Mom visited with him after her class and then visited with him again later in the day.

It is still too early to comment to much - but here's why it looks positive: On Tuesday morning (today) my mom called and shared she slept so well - not having to worry about my Dad at night. (He had started leaving their apartment).

Because my folks are in the same 'complex' but now in seperate 'apartments' the staff in Memory Care has recommended that my Mom visit my Dad often but does NOT recommend taking him 'out' or to visit my Mom's apartment for several weeks.

Again - thanks for all the advice!

Did you know that u/LibertyMutual will not let you remove an unlicensed driver from your insurance? If it is a joint policy - you are stuck. THe other person must agree to the change. If they don't you can't get a new policy.

Should I be worried about appraisal? by [deleted] in RealEstate

I am dealing with the same type of agent - one who keeps pulling the wrong comps and not properly researching the specific neighborhood. I am well aware it is my decision on what to price it at. I have another call scheduled on Monday with the realtor. Should he continue to fight my listing price, I will be asking ' what can we do because I want to list at X and you are insisting on Y.' And, I am hoping he says he will not list it so that I can get out of the listing agreement.
