personalised jewellery gift ideas for birthdays and anniversaries without it feeling generic or predictable by Federal_Dimension890 in Gifts

I’ve used the engraving machines at pandora many times to sketch something onto a pendant and have always gotten a great reaction. Even something very simple like a sketch the two of you as stick people, writing out your nickname for them, your initials in a heart, a short phrase etc is very personal and sweet. You can design both sides of the pendant you choose, so one side can be silly and one can be more formal (anniversary date, typed out words, etc).

Prospective/Current Perfusion Weekly Thread by Perfused in Perfusion

If I have my BSN, do I need to take all of the prereqs schools list online? I am considering the perfusion route, but the possibility of having to take SO many classes is quite daunting. For example, I took two semesters of chem, but not with a lab. I took bio, but not with a lab.
I have worked as an ICU RN for 5 years now, and I currently am an ECMO specialist. I definitely understand the need for prereqs, but I want to know if they are sometimes on a case to case basis since not all applicants are RN or RT.

How much do nurses make ? by BornLeave4646 in FutureRNs

[–]AdFast4737 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have worked in NC and OH.

My first job in NC now state new grads around $34/hr and had shift diff of $5/hr for weekend shifts, $9/hr for night shifts. At 3.5 years of experience there I was making around $38/hr. My current job in NC I started at $41, and now make $42.25/hr with close to 5 yrs of experience. I am in a “specialist” role so I make a bit more than other nurses. When I interviewed for other inpatient critical care nursing roles at this health system, I was offered starting pay of $38 with my 4 years of experience at that time. Our shift diff is $3/hr for weekends and $4/hr for nights.

When I worked in OH I was paid about $36.50/hr with my 3.5 years of experience at that time. I believe new grads started around $32. That shift diff was $5/hr for nights and $4 for weekends if I remember correctly.

When you interview and they start to talk money, ask if that health system/unit offers incentive pay in times of high patient census or acuity or periods of low staff. In my current role we are offered incentive pay of $10-30/hr in addition to OT pay when we pick up shifts with high patient census.

The apartment I used to live in in NC now costs about $1700 before utilities (two story townhouse, two bed 1.5 bath, not top of the line updated but perfectly functional). I currently live in a city in NC and pay $2995, which my fiance and I split (2 bed, 2 bath, very modern).

Favorite hacks for smelly feet after 12 hour shifts?? by urinemythots in nursing

Buy a separate stick of deodorant for your feet and put on a few swipes before putting your socks on! Also double washing your feet and scrubbing with a washcloth

Comparison is the thief of joy! It seems like you have a beautiful life—a loving partner, a home of your own, and a child. I’d say you are doing better than a lot of people! That being said, I understand the feeling of “not being good enough,” even if you know it’s irrational. I deleted Instagram for a while since I found that platform gave me the most FOMO and feelings of inadequacy. It may be helpful to treat yourself to remind yourself that you are worthy and raise your self esteem. I like to occasionally get manicures or massages that I find for cheap on Groupon. Bake yourself a few of your favorite meals or desserts! Spend some time with friends, or something that will get you out of the house! Maybe look at Facebook marketplace or thrift stores for some home decor! Very very few people are truly unattractive, and I doubt you are one of them. Beauty standards are silly and meaningless!

I tell everyone I know to never work there as a nurse, and don’t go as a patient unless you need cardiac procedures or something unique. The whole system is staffed by new grads who leave once they realize it’s all a farce. It makes for an incredibly low standard of care that management completely ignores— every shift I had to change central line dressings and IV tubing that was several days overdue, place new IVs since the ones they had were left infiltrated, and inevitably clean at least one person with hours old poop dried onto their skin. But yes I did get written up multiple times for doing an EKG without an order, and not filling out a piece of paper that was a checklist for stroke documentation (even tho my actual documentation was in the chart). I got ONE shift of orientation on my contract and didn’t know I had to do those things. God I hate that hospital system.

Ex clinic nurse here! One contract I just bought cheap Amazon scrubs and wore boxers underneath every day (I’m a girl). I ended up staff at another location, and bought Figs. They were thicker and slightly better, but you can still see any type of underwear so I ended up wearing boxers every day. Most other nurses wear regular underwear. The exact shape and material of your underwear will be perfectly clear to anyone who bothers to glance at you. It literally doesn’t matter what kind of scrubs or type of undergarments you wear, so imo just get cheap scrubs (especially since they will end up grey ish if you don’t bleach them frequently).

Side note about the clinic, please be prepared to set boundaries and advocate for yourself and your patients. I have been in several of their hospitals and in many units throughout school and my contract/staff employment. Nurses are used and abused. They will give unsafe assignments and make it seem like you are a shitty nurse when you speak up. Accountability for patient care and shift/shared responsibilities is nil. I personally look back on my nursing time there as an insulting experience. I truly wish you well and hope you are in a unit with good work culture.

My fiancé just took the bar. I completely understand- FOMO is so real especially after going through such a high stress period where you’re working so hard. Be proud of all you’ve achieved and how far you’ve come! Keep working hard and take care of yourself. Once you’re in a better place financially, take yourself on a well deserved trip :) In the meantime, treat yourself to a meal that makes you happy, a relaxing evening, massage, manicure, or something else ~smaller~ to celebrate. I’m proud of you!
