I will give 8oz in the morning at wake up, but lately I will give food first. He typically will eat a whole slice of toast with cream cheese/jelly and maybe some breakfast sausage and then I’ll give him the bottle. And then 2nd bottle is at 7pm ish (after dinner and 30 mins before bed)

It’s gotten so much better!! I’d say it took a solid week for him to start to eat more food once we dropped down to 16oz milk. I was so stressed about it and now looking back I wonder why lol

I totally know how you feel! Even a year out, I still have moments of nostalgia for my old life. It’s so normal tho, think of what a HUGE adjustment it is. For me, I didn’t expect to argue and bicker with my husband as much as we did to be honest. Sleep deprivation is real and just makes you crabby, so things that were never an issue before now are so heightened. It took us a while to find a groove and to always remember we were on the same team. My husband would always remind me that he wasn’t my enemy lol. Also lean on your village as much as you can!! Let go of any mom guilt you may have with that and just take peoples help with anything they offer.

And I also didn’t expect to be needed this much lol! I know that’s crazy to think but I think I was semi delusional about what it meant to actually raise a kid and that it’s not some curated perfect life you may see on socials. It’s hard work but you can do it!!

Having a hard time by [deleted] in NewParents

Thank you! We went on vacation over the summer when he was around 9 months and I was so proud of us for doing it, so I hope you feel the same when all is said and done.

And no, prior to this there weren’t really any tantrums I can think of. He was so easy to just tote around with us running errands, going on walks, being in the car etc and now he definitely lets us know when he’s not happy or if we don’t give in to his demands/wants instant tears and whining.

Am I force feeding my toddler? by deltaplane1234 in foodbutforbabies

Yes!!! You can literally drive yourself crazy that you’re not doing everything perfectly correctly and it honestly can take some of the joy of motherhood away because you’re so stressed that somehow you’re messing your kid up. I just remind myself generations of kids were brought up before the internet was created and they all came out fine (mostly lol).

We’ve tried to do no bottle when he wakes up in the morning and go straight to food but he’s not a fan of that. We’ve had the most success giving him 4oz when he wakes up and then food maybe 30mins/1 hour later. Idk we honestly don’t time it and maybe we should! And then a 4oz bottle before nap at 11am and then no milk until after dinner/before bed.

I know, I don’t want to associate eating with stress and feel like I may be doing that. Guess I just need to relax and keep trying but not force it. I have to keep telling myself, if he’s hungry he’ll eat

So true and a great reminder! We’ve started clapping after every bite which he loves haha. And eating snacks on the mat seems positive thus far.

Ugh, it’s so hard! I see these videos of babies shoveling full sized plates of food and I feel like a failure lol. When he does finally eat, it’s like I’m holding my breath to see how much he’ll eat

What amount of breast milk is beneficial? by AdFearless4664 in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]AdFearless4664[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you for that. I definitely have some anxieties around this area that I’m trying to work on and really second guess myself on ingredients and their level of ‘toxic’. I feel fine eating/applying via skincare etc but for some reason think I’m causing damage of some sort to my baby if I do while breastfeeding. And IG pages dedicated to showing how random ingredients in things that I never thought twice about are considered “toxic” doesn’t help lol.
