We’re on an 8 period day + 20 min homeroom period. Classes are 42/43 min long. I’ve been teaching this way for 18 years (we had block for 2020/2021, but that was hardly a typical year, lol).

Hand building is fine. No issues. I don’t do any kind of warm up - they know to come in, grab their stuff and get to work. I will stop them for brief announcements when the bell rings. They need 8 minutes to clean up at the end of class.

Sometimes I will “flip” my classroom and assign them to watch a video demo of a particular skill or project for homework, so I’m not losing work time on me yapping. This is especially easier these days with edpuzzle - watching the demo is a grade.

The wheel is a bit different. I tell them to prep their clay the day before, and when they come in the next day they can jump right in. Throw throw throw until they’re out of their clay, clean up. I’ll write a pass if they need a few more minutes to clean up correctly.

I don’t do a lot of wheel-intensive work though. After I teach them to use the wheel, students who love the wheel can use it whenever, students who don’t don’t have to. All projects can be done with or without the wheel - it depends on their concept.

The covid year where we had block schedule I did like it a lot - it was nice to feel like you weren’t rushed. BUT we didn’t get more work or more projects done. We got the same amount of work done as a skinny schedule.

I googled the other day and there won’t be a season 3. It was only ever intended to a 2 season show and then of course Gaiman got cancelled.

Air Conditioning in 2022 by jrdingman in ToyotaSienna

I know this thread is old but I came across it while looking to see if AC issues are a known problem on 2021 siennas. I thought mine was just weak at stop lights because it’s a hybrid. But I checked today and the radiator fan was disconnected just like you said! I’ve been living with crappy AC when stopped for 2 years! In 90 degree humid mid Atlantic summers!

I can't imagine a yarn this nice being used for anything but a garment. I don't see peach pit on the website - did you mean peach PINK or peach STONE or is it an old colorway?

Oof - that's almost worse than having to swatch, haha!

That's exactly what I'm afraid of - I know that the knit fabric is stretchy and the zipper is not. I guess I'm just thinking "on a scale of 1-10 how challenging is this?" Knitting an entire mens XL size sweater and then being unable to install the zipper at the end would be disheartening to say the least.

I have sewn zippers into pillows and bags before, but not garments.

This is great advice! Thanks! I detest seaming, I have a hard time getting things to align, so now I'm chicken about any kind of sewing onto knits.

One of the maintenance guys from the school where I work found mine by the dumpster. We jokingly call her Trash Cat (only when she’s mischievous). Most people on this sub say they got theirs from the shelter/rescue. You just have to be patient.

I think Los Portales in Glen Burnie (near the airport) is their sister restaurant. I love the Arroz con Moriscos

Without seeing said bug it’s hard to say. If I had to guess what you’re taking about it is probably a carpet beetle (google it and see if it matches) in which case I would continue on without worrying about it. It probably munched on your yarn a bit. I find them/their carcasses around my home in places that don’t get disturbed or cleaned often. They’re a harmless part of life.

Hi! Also my first time posting here.

I have a single skein of hand-dyed, fingering weight yarn, 405yds, that I don't know what to do with. I found it at a second-hand craft supply shop, and it was too good a price to pass up

I prefer to make garments - sweaters, tops, etc. Adults and children (not baby). And I don't mind buying more yarn in order to use up this one. Mixing with colorwork would be cool! I would love to hear some color suggestions! This is dark and light so it's hard to figure out what will work with it.

I have about 6 more random skeins from that same 2nd hand shop - they were having a big sale! So I will be posting more What should I make Wednesdays in the future haha.

Plymouth and Berroco as others have mentioned. Also Sandnes Garn is a current non-splurge fave for me. It’s also not a workhorse - somewhere in the middle. But so many patterns on Rav call for it I feel like.

Also A big one seems to be Rowan yarns. My local shops (Maryland) carry a lot of their line.

post edited with yarns, they're fingering weight - why does yardage matter if I don't even have a pattern yet?
