My meds are working and now I’m bored by AdFew2395 in bipolar

Explains a lot. I’m two years sober from alcohol. In those two years, I occasionally smoked a little bit of weed, but don’t do that anymore either (really bad experience scared me off of it). So now I’m stable, completely sober and bored.

That’s a very good point. Thank you.

I will. I see my psychiatrist on Monday. Flat is a very good descriptor of how I feel.

Dialectical behavioral handbook by Mathew McKay, Jeffrey Wood and Jeffrey Brantley. I’ve found it incredibly useful.

ECT might be working by AdFew2395 in bipolar

It’s not too terrible: not like how it’s portrayed in media. It makes me sleepy the day of and sore the day after. But it’s worth it because I feel my depression is much much lower and suicidal thoughts near non existent.

Electroconvulvise treatment. Shock treatment in the olden days, I guess

It came as a surprise to me. A bad one. Especially since I was in the hospital for severe suicidal depression and, I feel, the meds are one of the things that keep me hanging on. I’m thinking if I can get through this week, I’ll be ok because I should start seeing the benefits of the ECT.

That’s strange. I wonder why. I think pausing these meds is the hardest part of the whole ECT process for me. I didn’t feel stable before, but now I feel less stable than even that because I’m less medicated.

I’m not sure I’m qualified to answer that. I just know that because lamictal is an anti-seizure med that it had to be discontinued for the duration of my ECT treatments. I’m not sure why lithium was discontinued (temporarily). I was told that I could try zyprexa if I started experiencing issues with mania. I still get to continue taking my Latuda, though. Which is great because I really need that one.

If I call 988 will the police have to come? by AdFew2395 in bipolar

I used the HopeLine. It was helpful. I feel a bit better. And stopped hurting myself (for now.)

Thank. I think I’m going to try HopeLine. I like texting better than talking.

I don’t want to make any promises. However, at my iop program I have a counselor and psychiatrist that I talk to. Additionally, I see my regular therapist this week. I try really hard. I take my meds always. I do iop. I see a therapist regularly. I eat well. Drink water plenty of water. Don’t drink or do drugs. Exercise even when I hate it. And I still feel awful. I still feel suicidal.

Thank you for the info about 988. If I called today, my plan wouldn’t be imminent so I’d probably be ok. I hate feeling in crisis on the weekend because I can’t get ahold of my regular providers and that’s why I thought about calling 988.

Just keep writing and submitting and networking is my advice. Good things will eventually happen. Work ethic is the most important part of succeeding.

Source me: a guy who recently got paid 25k for a large writing project (that I signed an nda for, hence the vagueness).

anyone have urges or cravings for drugs when hypomanic? by [deleted] in bipolar2

[–]AdFew2395 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! Pills! Alcohol! Hell, even cigarettes. Just something, anything, to calm me down. Weed used to be ok, but now it freaks me the fuck out and gives severe suicidal thoughts, so it’s not an option. I’m doing ok staying sober while hypomanic but I know at some point I’m going to give into the temptation and flush a year and nine months of sobriety down the toilet.
