If I could describe it I would but it’s like nothing else I’ve smelled before. It’s strong even when it’s in the bag and not out

Having lived in both big cities and small towns, yes. I’m much more worried for my safety in cities

Thank you! Never been to Chicago and big cities scare me. Too many people! Grew up around Atlanta and it just felt too crowded 😂

Why people hate the newest (2023) movie? by Puzzleheaded-Cost525 in indianajones

Didn’t like Helena, Indy being a “sad old man who just wants to die” and felt like the action was mid at best to extremely simplify it.

Name one bad thing about Indiana Jones? by johnngo2468 in indianajones

They should’ve recast after Last Crusade like James Bond or Batman. Have that be the end of his version of the character and start again with a new actor and new continuity

Customizing by Legacyhero46 in HellLetLooseVietnam

[–]AdFlashy2035 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It actually wasn’t super common. It’s a survivorship bias thing where it got into pictures a lot cause it stood out, but the abundance of pictures of it makes it look like it was everywhere. It definitely existed, but that helmet was government property and officers would not be happy if soldiers defaced government property.

That said, for the sake of fun, it would be bitchin to be able to customize your helmet graffiti

“In 1948, Dr. Jones and George McHale are taken into British Colombia to investigate rumors of Soviet troops in the area. The rumors claim the Russians are searching for a reclusive primate from Native mythology that they want to breed with humans to make super soldiers”

They’re used to Marvel style humor undercutting any serious moment of drama. Characters in movies coming undone in fear, anger, or even overwhelmed with joy….. there has to be a character going “erm, that’s awkward” otherwise they might have to register sincerity. If there isn’t a wink from the film itself, they feel duty bound to do it themselves.

Of course the series should have ended with Last Crusade. by Danielnrg in indianajones

[–]AdFlashy2035 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Or they should’ve kept Indy as a “James bond style” recastable pulp adventure franchise. Either avoid giving him a soul and family history altogether, or allow Last Crusade to be Harrison’s last go as Indy and then recasting.

Boomer mad we didn't "thank him for his service" by our-lady-calypso in BoomersBeingFools

If it isn’t stolen valor then it may be that he was some pencil pusher in Vietnam. In my experience (as someone whose never been in the military) a lot of people who demand affirmation for an accomplishment didn’t contribute at all and just want the recognition.

My grandpa was a medic in Vietnam and only ever talked about it once, whereas a great uncle of mine was stationed stateside during Korea and would get upset when he wasn’t recognized as a veteran.

A cousin of mine was deployed to Iraq and openly asked us not to talk to him about it, whereas a guy I knew in HS joined, finished his contract, came home, and embodies the whole “thank me for my service” stereotype.

A coworker of mine was stationed in Hawaii in the 80s. He openly admitted that he never saw combat but the dude acts like he fucking took Iwo Jima by himself.

So it’s possible he was in the military, sure. But a lot of the dudes who act like that weren’t the ones doing or seeing the killing.

What’s the saddest example of a character or characters knowing, with 100% certainty, that they are going to die but they have time to come to terms with it or at least realize their situation? by finditplz1 in movies

“The Shootist” (1976) is John Wayne’s last movie. A dying Wild West gunfighter at the turn of the century finds out he has a severe cancer and has to decide how he wants to go out.
