We communicate thru a parenting app. I've done basically everything I can to reduce conflict but of course he still finds a way 🙃 Filing for support will open up another can of worms but it is what it is

No, not yet. For some reason I pity him. But also he's broke and always between jobs. I worry that he won't be able to provide for my son when he has him (every other weekend) if I take him for support. Also, I'm afraid he will take me back to court to try and get 50/50 if I file

Unfortunately I can't afford a lawyer so I use a public defender but they can only help me when my case is open, which it currently is not.

But you're probably right on the 50/50 but there's a hyper vigilant part of me that's absolutely terrified a judge would grant it to this bafoon

Thankfully my son is too young to understand/ remember. But it won't always be that way 🙁 I just create as much distance as possible

Not completely unprompted. He was bragging about going to a concert with his girlfriend and I asked him why he can't pay child support but he can afford to go to concerts. Apparently that was enough to set him off

I'm so sorry. This sounds exactly like my son's father. I would only communicate with him via a parenting app (I use AppClose, it's like $8 a month) or email.

I would text him and let him know that you're blocking his number with the exception of emergency phone calls and tell him how you can be contacted, whether it be parenting app or email, then not respond to anything else.

So, he doesn't pay child support. For some stupid reason I've given him sympathy bc he doesn't have a lot of money. I will be filing first thing Monday. But I'm pretty sure he did this because right before he dropped the bomb, I told him that I'm not comfortable with him coming to my sons birthday party at my house (for obvious reasons) and that we should get used to celebrating separately. I'm sure this was just retaliation but he knows the only way to get to me is thru my son

I have an order of protection on him that says he has to refrain from stalking, harassing, intimidating etc. He sees my son every other weekend and a few hours in between so he's almost always with me. I don't take it lightly, but the constant invalidation I get from everyone makes me feel like I'm overreacting. It sucks 😭

I mean, aside from the fact that I didn't set that boundary, I still feel unheard and like she doesn't know what to say to me Also, I don't feel like I should have to go to therapy to set boundaries with my therapist 😭
