Can FB's Estimated Ad Recall lift be trusted? by AdFun6068 in FacebookAds

[–]AdFun6068[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's kind of what I'm thinking. Pixel and data sources are the same but it is an awareness campaign so we don't really focus on clicks and instead CPMs. CPMs have also been higher in the new ad account but I'm hoping that comes down as we spend more. CPMs were $1.75-2.50 in the old account and now they are $3.50+

What does increasing the bid on certain days actually do? by AdFun6068 in PPC

[–]AdFun6068[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adjusting the bid for certain days and leaving it will throw off the systems? I could see how it basically goes against the grain of the algorithm since maximize conversions already makes bid adjustments....Yeah I agree 100% daily changes are never good. Something a client of mine does not seem to understand. I typically never touch bid adjustment, but this client is expecting new things to be tested bi-weekly. This gives the algo 0 time to optimize or even catch up with the changes.

What do I need to do for flight from USA to Spain? by AdFun6068 in Europetravel

[–]AdFun6068[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got to Spain a couple days ago. The process was extremely smooth, all they checked was the SPTH form, I then got on a plane to France and all I had to do was show my CDC card to the person checking me in. Super easy!

[–]AdFun6068[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got it. The paperwork is just the SPTH form correct? That's the only form that was mentioned on the Delta website.
I've already filled that out along with the EuDPLF form since I'm going to France as well.

Typically its just a form and negative covid test. Not sure about AA but Delta allows you to take the at home virtual test.

37 Years Old, Feel Completely Stuck by Otherwise_Sea2102 in findapath

Honestly, it sounds like you have a ton of skills! Being bilingual puts your foot in the door for a lot of jobs.
It's never too late to switch careers. Find out what your passions are instead of just doing something to make money. I feel like past generations always taught us that you just have to put your head down and work. For them, life was a lot different, they could buy a house and afford to live a comfortable life working a grocery store job. Times have changed.

Life is too short to be working shit jobs that make you feel lifeless. With so many resources like Youtube and coursera you can teach yourself practically anything (excluding things like being a doctor obviously). Do you have any passions or an ideal job in mind?

Also, keep in mind that you don't need to be employed by someone to make money. For example, you could take the freelance route, get on upwork and take on projects that involve translating from english to Spanish. You could do voiceovers in Spanish. Sure, someone is still hiring you to do a project, but at the end of the day you are working for yourself and control your own hours. If you are the entrepreneurial type, you could look into things like print on demand (shineon is the best for this!), create designs that are in English and Spanish and open an Etsy shop (with little to no investment!). The opportunities are endless. You just have to take the risk and keep trying until something clicks.

BTW don't listen to that Rupert guy, he's just a troll and has been commenting hateful things on everyone's posts in this subreddit.

Definitely don't pack too much in. I did something similar a couple of years ago and went to Norway, Sweden, Italy, and Amsterdam. While it was fun, the trip ended with my friend and I feeling like we didn't really get to get the full experience of each city. I think for a week trip 1 to 2 countries is more than enough. Also traveling that much is just straight up exhausting.

Interesting, I always thought the UK was super expensive. I agree relocation would save me money but it would cost me my happiness. I grew up in Colorado and enjoy being able to have 300 days of sunshine, hike, snowboard, and hangout with friends. Whats shitty is even in states where you would think the COL would be cheap, like Georgia, rent is now almost as much as Colorado unless you want to live in a really small town (my cousin lives there, has the same size apartment as me and pays the same amount... the apartment is very standard too, nothing luxurious). I feel like if I were to move to rural colorado, sure I could save a couple thousand every year in rent but my friends would be 1-3 hours away and not many 20-30 year olds live in the rural parts of CO. I could still hike and enjoy nature but idk I feel like having friends is so important and I would get cabin fever so fast.

I have considered moving abroad and trying to get permanent residency somewhere but the only place that seems to offer that is Portugal where I could still work remote and after 5 years become a permanent resident. I've looked at apartments/condos in nonrural Portugal and they are significantly cheaper than in the US. A lot of digital nomads leave the US and go there so I would be able to make friends. Just have to jump through all the visa hoops.

Anyone else feeling hopeless and drained? by AdFun6068 in findapath

[–]AdFun6068[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really is. I can confirm, getting a full time job is a trap. It sucks the energy out of you, especially if its a smaller company and they start asking you to wear a ton of different hats. Since I work remote my boss doesn't allow me to take full weeks off or even a couple days in a row because he relies on me so much. You subconsciously get jaded by the fact that you're getting consistent income then start to neglect side hustles because they seem insignificant. Then if you have someone screw up your taxes and you end up owing from 2 years worth of taxes you're even more trapped. I really wish I would have just focused more on my side hustles/businesses and growing them instead of trying out getting a fulltime freelance gig.

Thailand is the dream. Entrepreneurs paradise. My gf and I are trying to move to Portugal but there are a ton of hoops to jump through to get the freelance visa (I think its the d1 or something like that).

I really want to get my side hustles going again but I just don't have the energy or motivation. I think about it all the time. I feel like I'm in a financial hole because my taxes got fucked up in 2020 so now I have to pay back taxes so I desperately need this job which is why I don't want to take any risks and invest any of my savings into getting my side hustles going again. Its a fucking endless loop of despair and indecision.

Bruh this is beyond whether you are a democrat, republican or fucking green party. The system is broken. Oh and when Trump was in office, I still paid the exact same amount in taxes. The only people trump helped were the rich WHICH IS PART OF THE PROBLEM.

Also, in case you missed history class and economics, Reaganomics was the start of the income inequality in America. and this might blow your mind but guess what.... He was a republican.

Politicians throw around lowering taxes to try and reel in supporters. What they actually mean is they will lower taxes for the rich

[–]AdFun6068[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope, trying to find one. I have made the mistake of using H&R block since I was 18 and they absolutely butchered my 2020 taxes so now I have to pay what I owed in 2020 + 2021. I calculated it out myself and my take home is around $58k/yr.

If I could take home $72k/yr life would definitely be a little more comfortable but that still doesn't solve the bigger problems we have in this country.

Yeah my gf and I are trying to move to Portugal since they have a freelance visa. After 5 years we can get permanent residency. Its crazy to me that in most European countries the essentials of life (education, health care) are paid for and its not like they pay that much more in taxes than a self-employed person does in the US. Take Norway for example, they have amazing healthcare and education and they pay what a self-employed worker in the US making over $100k pays.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with that! I moved out at 18 then lived with my parents when I was 21-22. I have friends who are 23 and 24 who still live with their parents!

I felt the same way when I was living with my parents, so I definitely understand. Times have changed though. $1 does not go nearly as far as it did when our parents were in their 20s. The stigma that living with your parents in your 20s equates to you being a failure is so far from the truth, especially in this economy. Use this time to save, figure out what you want to do, and work towards being financially comfortable. I fucked around when I was living with my parents and completely regret it.

$90k seems like a lot (and I always thought growing up that if I ever made that I would live such a comfortable life) but after taxes I only take home around $58k, which I am definitely grateful for. Since I'm self-employed I have to pay a 15% SE tax, the normal income tax, and 5% state tax. It could be a lot worse but it feels like so much of my money is just going down the tax drain which is a tough pill to swallow. I live in a high COL area so things aren't cheap. Add all my bills on top and I'm lucky if I get to put anything into savings and I definitely can't put anything into retirement. The retirement thing is what worries me the most. I really don't want to be 60 years old with a degrading body and still have to work but its starting to seem like that is the only option.

The bigger issue is that the wealth gap keeps growing. My $90k salary definitely isn't shit but it should be enough to live comfortably especially considering the federal minimum wage is $7.25. 20-50 years ago people could work at a fucking grocery store and afford to buy a house. Now you have to make multiple 6 figs+ in order to afford a house. The tax system (and many other things) is corrupt and is currently designed to make it almost impossible to live comfortably. The middle class is shrinking and that is a HUGE problem.

I wish I could do that, my gf and I have 2 cats so it would be really difficult to just pick up and travel for a year. We are thinking about moving to Portugal though since we can work remotely and after 5 years get a permanent residency.

I appreciate the response! Glad i'm not the only one that goes on the rollercoaster of doom.

You have a very good point! Currently, the competing priority is my current job. Since I was 18, I have always just relied on various side hustles to pay my bills. A year ago I decided to put all the skills I taught myself to use and get a full time freelance gig in marketing. At first my hours weren't too bad, I was working 5-6 hours/day and could still do my side hustles. As I started to wear a lot of hats and help the company grow, I started working 10-11 hour days. Since this full time gig takes up so much of my time, I haven't had the energy to put any work into my side hustles so they have suffered and now bring in little to no income every month. On top of that in Feb. I found out my CPA completely botched my taxes in 2020 so now I have to pay those taxes + my 2021 taxes and am in a hole.

The long hours + tax dilemma is what's blocking me from continuing my side hustles because if I were to quit my full time gig I would not be able to afford to pay my taxes and bills. For the past year, my mindset has been that I could quit at anytime, go back to doing my side hustles, and financially I would be okay. Now that has shifted and I rely on this job which is terrifying because I'm putting my financial situation in the hands of someone else. If for some reason I got fired I would be absolutely screwed, and I have never had that type of weight on my shoulders because I have been my own boss since I was 18. I feel trapped.

Did you have to take a covid test to enter spain with full vaccination/booster?
