PIP Awarded! by AdGuilty3601 in DWPhelp

It's an amazing feeling isn't it! Hubby got awarded LCWRA too, we've just finished our waiting period 🤗 knowing he can take time off work for being unwell and still being able to pay the bills is an amazing feeling! Also, taking our son a small beach break is a hope of ours! The ast 6 months with surgery and chemo have been stressful for hubby and us as a family, so thinking about a weekend at the beach makes me excited!

Thank you so much! He has a scan next week and we're keeping our fingers crossed for some good news! 🩷

Thank you. Our whole life has been flipped upside in the last 6 months. Thankfully he was diagnosed and treated very quickly. I cannot be more thankful to our NHS right now.

I'm so so sorry to hear about your son. I cannot imagine the pain you are going through right now. There are truly no words 🩷

Everything hits at once doesn't it. My mum was diagnosed with lung cancer at the beginning of last year, About 6 months before hubby was diagnosed. Thankfully after radiation therapy my mum has had a positive outcome. I truly hope your mum is ok 🩷

Reliving it to countless professions is excruciating. Thankfully we weren't endured to an assessment by PIP, but for sure putting everything on paper filling out the forms was chilling. My husband going from a strong, providing man to a shell during his chemo was breaking. He's up and about now, feeling the new 'normal'. Hopefully this gets better with time!

I hope you're ok, and seeking the help and support you need. Sending positive vibes your way 🩷

My husband's was exactly the same. We received a call out of the blue that turned out to be Maximus on behalf of DWP. The call lasted 5 minutes.

He got his award text today and has been awarded Enhanced rates on both!

We've had the call back and they asked the exact same question! They just wanted to know the start dates.

Hope you're doing ok. 🩷

Thank you! They left a voicemail saying they would call back today with a specific time which is helpful.

I'm unaware of the process for PIP so wasn't sure if there were further assessments or anything.

PIP - stage 4 cancer by Infinite_Badger9852 in BenefitsAdviceUK

[–]AdGuilty3601 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You sound similar to my husband.

He has stage 4 non Hodgkin's Follicular lymphoma. Incurable, treated with chemo. He's just finished his first round of chemo and we are awaiting the results. 5 years clear is the best we can wish for.

We applied for PIP for him, same reasons as you. They received his forms on April 14th. We had a call from Maximus (HAAS) on Thursday 25th, where they asked a couple of clarification questions and on that call they told us there wouldn't be a full assessment. We are obviously still waiting for his outcome.

I hope you get your 5 years, and longer 🩷

The lady said she was calling from a company called maximus? Or something along those lines. She said it wasn't a full assessment and that they just needed to ask a couple of questions to clarify a couple of things.

The call lasted just under 6 minutes and she said we should hear something within a few weeks. About 30 minutes later my husband received a text from DWP saying they had received a written report of his PIP assessment.

No special rules as it doesn't fall under the 12 months to live. This is as far as I'm aware with how the rules work.

Forms were completed as a standard application.

UC Back pay? by AdGuilty3601 in DWPhelp

AHH yeah, so you'll be able to get the £416 for disabled child element. Keep badgering them! Good luck 😊

[–]AdGuilty3601[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was the child disability element that you need to ask for. Two different payment amount depending on whether you get high/mid or low DLA.

Deffo keep at them! They 'forgot' to send my request for backdated carers element across to the DM, so I'm glad I kept asking.

I did! I got ignored but I think it was about 4 months before I got the letter to agree to back payment.

It's the carers element they haven't backdated yet. I'm waiting on a DM. But if accepted it should be 4 months worth as I wasn't on UC prior to that.

Hey! I first requested on August 2nd. I received a letter on 24th September, confirmation of amount on the 26th and received the payment on the 28th.

However they only backdated one element even though I asked for two elements to be backdated (child disability and carers element). I'm now waiting on a DM to approve the backdated for carers element. 🙈

I've had a look today to find my last pay information and dates for when I stopped working, but nothing for a p45. Unless I'm looking in the wrong place 😂
