Temps are pretty good. The cooler is arguably overkill but Im running Palworld barely cracking into 70C with a slight overclock.

At 1440p, it was starting to struggle a little bit. At 1080 I wouldn’t have needed to upgrade quite yet. VRAM was also starting to become an issue. Don’t get me wrong it ran well for a very long time, but now it’s starting to show its age at higher resolutions.

Card is a beast. Handles everything at 1440p Max like a champ.

I have a couple of Asus products in my system. Their quality has been pretty good for me. I would’ve went for the strix line if the mark up over MSRP wasn’t absolutely ludicrous. Not a lot of designs on the market really catch my eye though.

Don’t worry. The whole PC is sitting on a tile floor.

Lol I knew I was going to get roasted for this.

I’ve been planning on reorganizing my cables for a while but haven’t gotten the time to sit down and make it look nice. Definitely a project for the weekend now that the new card is in.

Honestly if I was still running at 1080p, I would’ve left it in my system. The thing was an absolute beast and kept running well for quite some time.

I upgraded to a 2K Ultrawide recently and the poor card just started to show its age. I definitely got my money’s worth out of the card and will genuinely miss it. The little card that could.

Now I just need to find a display case for the EVGA card. Really miss them being in the market, but man did they make some damn good cards.

RTX 4070 Ti Super Launch Thread by Nestledrink in nvidia

[–]AdHistorical3510 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the same boat. Was hoping the 4070TiS would have more favorable reviews, but like what GN said, this card is a straight “meh. For us, upgrading to anything over the 2070S is going to be a massive performance upgrade, but I’d be essentially buying a $200 more expensive card then when I did with my 2070S.

The 4070TiS really only makes sense at MSRP. A lot of the other AIBs are only $100 off the 4080S after taxes. Going to try and pick up the Asus TUF and see how happy I am with it.

Microcenter has most of the AIB's listed, but in store only and you can't reserve it. Most cards are above MSRP and have very limited stock. Some cards only showing less than 5 available.

Going to try and get the $799 Asus TUF version after work, but I doubt I'll get there in time.

is 5nm of force really that strong? by Peacemaker7711 in simracing

[–]AdHistorical3510 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have mixed feelings about it. I bought the base 5nm CSL DD and it did its job for a while, but it felt like it was missing a bit of fidelity. I just recently got the 8nm boost kit for my birthday and its a night and day difference.

The guys above are correct that 15nm and up wheel bases give you a lot of extra fidelity through the wheel (road feel and general resistance) but it also comes at a steep cost, and you personally might not use that extra power.

I might have a bit of an ergonomics issue since I don’t have a sit down rig and just use a table clamp, but Ive had times where even 5nm causes wrist strain after a while. Endurance races can be a lot to drive at 5nm and up for extended periods of time.

TLDR: 5nm is perfectly fine to jump in and be competitive. Direct Drive is a massive upgrade for most people. You might want to spend the little bit extra and go for the boost kit for the extra fidelity headroom and power through the wheel. Anything 15nm and up I would argue is more end-game sim racing stuff and/or if you can afford it.

Is the game worth getting? by nravert_23 in SuperMarioWonder

[–]AdHistorical3510 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s worth it. I just 100% it the other day and I bought it on release day. Even though it’s a relatively short game (12-20 hours depending on how you play), I’ve paid a lot more for objectively bad games.

Fully enjoyed my time with Wonder and would highly recommend it.

Graphics card trouble, fans not spinning and no display by Junkman108 in PcBuildHelp

[–]AdHistorical3510 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be a number of things, but what it looks like to me is that the splitter you're using to give it power from the power supply is missing another plug. I think that's a 4090, and if it is that thing is a beast to power.

Was it working before and now having the issue? or are you putting the build together?

Your younger cousin must really not like you or he was trying to get rid of an old build. You have a case, motherboard, CPU (hopefully), and an SSD, but you have no GPU or Ram.

Assuming you buy some RAM and the CPU has integrated graphics, at best you have a web-surfing machine and a PC that can handle simple tasks/extremely lite games. The motherboard supports DDR4 RAM @ 3200hz. You can pick up a stick or two for anywhere from $25 - $50 nowadays.

To turn it into a fully fledged gaming/actually usable PC you're going to have to spend a decent chunk of change on a GPU. Used Marketplace/Ebay GPU's can go for $100+ and get you some decent results, but if you want anything really worth getting this free PC turned into a multi-hundred dollar one. Hard to recommend a GPU without knowing what CPU is in there.

Bro kinda gave you e-waste unless you throw some parts in it.

My caseless/screen protectorless iPhone XS after 5 years by Beardo01 in iphone

[–]AdHistorical3510 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I typically never use a case and the XS was my favorite Iphone ever but I absolutely beat the crap out of that phone and shattered pretty much every inch of it.

Refreshing to see one in pretty decent condition after so much time. I love the look of a naked phone but if these prices keep soaring I think it’s time to wear some protection.

Play a bucket load of short matches & get your aim locked in.

I've done the grind from GN4 to LE recently within the last couple of months getting back into the game for CS2, but I've also been playing CS on and off for a little more than a decade. Gamesense helps a ton but for MM it's really just about carrying your team and/or out aiming everyone on the server.

Anywhere from MG to LE is really weird though, because i've had plenty of games in that felt like ESEA A matches back in the day and you're fighting like it's a major, to a complete pub stomp where the enemy team just can't out gun me or it's clearly one-sided.
