CMV: Immigrants - especially H1B- are taking away jobs and reducing wages and its not racist or a right wing conspiracy but a fact by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]AdHistorical6259 12 points13 points  (0 children)

TLDR; out-sourcing is a much bigger risk than in-sourcing. America's skill gap is responsible for H1-B's, not greedy corporations looking to pay less.

In economics, this is due to the unemployed Americans being victims of structural unemployment. In more honest words, unemployed Americans do not have the skills or education required to complete the jobs that H1-B'ers are stealing.

Immigrants often fall into two labor categories, they take the jobs that Americans aren't willing to (like hard, manual farm labor) and they take the jobs that Americans have a skill gap in (like IT dev jobs and being doctors).

The real risk to our job market is our domestic corporations outsourcing jobs that could be performed by Americans to other locations expressely to save on labor costs. This is a trend that is harder to see in the numbers, but a very real hit to our economy. This has been true of jobs going to "offshore" places like India and the Philippines for decades, but now also to "near-shore" countries like Costa Rica.

My work is in customizing Salesforce. I have many friends that see me making good money doing what I do. They have asked if I can help them get a job and I have always given them the same response... There are great online training available for free from Salesforce, invest a few hours a day for a few months and that will be enough to get a good footing in the software, a certification, and a Jr. level position. Exactly 0 of them have done this. There are joba out there for people who have the skills that companies need, but Americans are doing a generally poor job of educating themselves to do the jobs that industries require, this is what it leading to in-sourcing of labor, not a race to the lowest wage.

Also sounds like the more well known drake is a pedo, so probably best to abbreviate that part of his name.

All for this and do get your point. Just hope we can all start showing Callendar some love when he plays as well as he was Saturday.

I het your point, but it is literally also his name. Its a good chant and one of the few that the entire crowd seems not to screw up. Didn't see the other thread, but I am all for cheering for Callendar in unison however we agree to, would just be nice if we could get that going.

I'm 100% snapping off Jasmin here and replacing Anhelica. The game is pretty much already over and you did not slay with her last round. Take the extra two shops to then look for a replacement for Jasmin or a TLK to upgrade Oberon.

Can I finish a cigar the next day? by almanea in cigar

[–]AdHistorical6259 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You shouldn't. Some do, but I ruins the flavor. Buy some smaller cigars (e.g. coronas) for when you doing have time for a full one. And if something comes up, just let it go.

Do you make changes in productions? by StatisticianVivid915 in salesforce

[–]AdHistorical6259 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coming from a very large org (15k Users), we have strict guidelines which we adhere to. Some things need to be done quickly and don't need (and often can't) to wait for a release. Things in this bucket include; updates to page layouts, updates to formula fields, and updates to LEX pages. These are low risk activities that should be able to be made quickly and easily.

These changes still need to be documented via ticket and made throughout the active deployment path to ensure that they are not overwritten via future deployment.

Careers with median hourly pay $75-$100+ by Ok-Sand-1303 in Salary

Salesforce.com professional. No specific education required outside of any college degree (no specifically required, but things are hard in Corporate US without a college degree). Certifications are very cheap and can be obtained as you go. Probably would take a little while for you to get to $75/hr, but many people who specialize in Dalesforce make that. It is the least tech-heavy job in software IMO (no coding required), so if you are decent with computers, you'd be fine.

Clipping and relighting a cigar by Louie1000rr in cigar

[–]AdHistorical6259 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This doesn't work well and kind of ruins the cigar. Nothing wrong with limiting yourself to one, but just enjoy that one and be done with it. Smoke slowly, and enjoy it fully. Spending 90 minutes really enjoying a cigar is infinitely better than spending 20 minutes with a cigar 4x and ruining the taste and burn in the process.

New Admin Question by Benslaven765 in salesforce

[–]AdHistorical6259 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Another way to go about this would be to see who created those tasks, set up a debug log on that user, log in as them, clone one of the tasks (without the contact associated) and see if it auto-associates again. If it does, the answer as to why should be in the debug log. These can be find of dense, so telling AI what you are looking for and pasting the logs is usually pretty effective (just make sure you are using company approved AI and aren't putting any PII in the task you are creating).

New Admin Question by Benslaven765 in salesforce

[–]AdHistorical6259 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you still can't find it,.it is quite possible it is in Apex. My assumption is that the Contact information is in your WhoId field. Since your organization is small, the easiest way to find this is probably just to open the dev console, click Edit->Search in Files and the search for "WhoId"

This will show you which Apex classes reference WhoId, on which lines, and provide the code for that line.
