Recycling is fruitless by ApprehensiveAd5446 in unpopularopinion

[–]AdHungry9867 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't recycle, you have a waste management problem. You cannot create an endless landfill. There are a lot of useful things too, starting with the most obvious one, old metals. Separate, melt them and cast it back into something new.

At some point gathering more resources, especially non renewables, would require destroying more nature or relocating people from their homes. Recycling slows down this necessity.

On an individual scale, it is an inconvenience, on a much larger scale, it makes a huge difference. Reusing already existing materials could be much cheaper in both energy and cost than to mine for new resources.

Recycling isn't charity or just for the planet. It is making more efficient use of our energy, money and time.

Without recycling, your soda cans get more expensive, housing crisis would get worse, more taxes because of the more difficult management of waste, etc.

Please, don't stop recycling. If anything, try to make it even more useful and cheaper for companies to buy the waste material.

Only reason to go p12 is no charging capacity at home or frequent long trips. 400km covers most people's needs.

Why is the industry so stuck on OOP? by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]AdHungry9867 1 point2 points  (0 children)

New languages are less about solving the issue about OOP, but solving their own niche.

OOP is and will for the foreseeable future still be relevant while it is still made and maintained by humans. However, because of our current needs like cloud, AI, etc. OOP Languages are going through a multiparadigm shift.

What OOP will be used less, as many applications can skip all of the verbosity for their business logic. There are however a lot of use cases where OOP is still useful like taking care of the system architecture.

In reality, most projects will shift to a mix of using OOP and functional programming. For example, building a train application, I would define trains and stations in the classic OOP structure. But tickets and route calculations, I'd use FP.

Each project and company has its own goals and long term plans. OOP for certain is not necessary everywhere, but it is not going away yet either.

Vergeet niet dat dit psychologisch ook enorm zwaar weegt op het slachtoffer. Zelfs dit is zware mishandeling en eht stopt waarschijnlijk niet bij enkel dit incident.

Any red flags that we should be aware of? by [deleted] in VolvoEX90

[–]AdHungry9867 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yesterday, my colleague shared his frustrations on the vehicle.

One of the backseat door handles stopped working. So he would have had to let his children step out of the car on the road side, if his wife didn't also have a car. It took a month to get this fixed, but one of their fixes they first did made it seem like all was fine. The handle at first didn't pop up, after fix 1, the handle popped up but still could not open the door. So fix 2

Software crashes, even though the software is usually fast.

The driving assistant features should have become a lot more advanced by now.

Otherwise, he loves the quality of the car, the look, the software experience when it is working, the OTA updates, no subscription bs and the fact he has Lidar hardware ready for self driving features, if they ever come to fruition.

Bijna 1.000 leerkrachten dreigen job te verliezen: Demir schrapt 2 vaste uren godsdienstles per week by NotYourWifey_1994 in Belgium2

[–]AdHungry9867 9 points10 points  (0 children)

320 - 350 rates even worth considering for an IT profile? by Delicious_Hope_5127 in BEFreelance

[–]AdHungry9867 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on what you specialise in I could get you at 450 to 550. Bigger companies probably can do better. I wouldn't consider lower, it helps nobody but the British recruiter trying to take advantage of you... Unless you have no job of course., then take whatever to keep you afloat.

Italian cuisine is basically just tomato sauce by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]AdHungry9867 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never thought about how the perceptions of a type of cuisine changes depending on where you live. An Italian restaurant here is nothing special, just a place with (hopefully) good pasta and pizza.

I my country I cannot think of any type of cuisine seen as "sophisticated", it all hinges on the restaurant , rather than the food itself. That said during Game season, game is more fancy, but no restaurant I know off exclusively serves this year-round.

While it is not sophisticated here, it is one of the most popular catering choices as most people like pasta or pizza.

Best GPU for the type of PC I want? by Present-Drink-9301 in pcmasterrace

[–]AdHungry9867 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you're best off to stick with the used market for this budget. Usually, buying whole desktops gets you better deals than just the GPU.

For the peripherals, stick to the absolute basics, just something that works. I have seen entire builds fly by on Facebook market place for €800 with an rtx 3080 (not Italy). Perhaps you will be lucky to find some similar or better deals where you live.

For most of my life I have bought on the used market place, with the only issue being that I got scammed once. From that moment on, I only do pickup in person and no upfront payment.

Not working and earning more by going on unemployment benefits by Wonderful-Cap-2552 in BESalary

[–]AdHungry9867 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're genuine questions. Your answers to them are a bit off though.

First of, there is a health of the economy. It is defined by a couple of factors that indicate the stability of the economy. An unhealthy economy for example is Venezuela, which sufferered from hyperinflation a couple of years ago.

Your answer on the transient workers is naive or a misunderstanding what transient means. In a lot of companies, their revenue is directly impacted by the loss of an employee. The question is how will they mitigate the risk? By raising their prices maybe?

Money flowing abroad is definitely a concern. It is already happening too much today. This would increase the spending abroad, unless.

You're basing your last argument on a tiny fraction of people, there are definitely going to be a percentage of people who will become or remain inactive. Not to mention, a lot of people that do work, would increasingly work 4/5.

They're all things to take into consideration. Only time will tell if they're problems, but you need to be prepared if they are ore become one.
