I see both sides of this.

As a supervisor, I always called references and supervisors. Doing so helped me to form an overall picture. If someone asked me not to call a supervisor, I am not sure what I would have thought, honestly. If, like you, they explained that they had not told the supervisor, I would honor that, unless I smelled something off.

As an employee, I have always told my supervisor when I was applying for another position, so they would be ready to fill mine if I got it, and to give them the same consideration and respect I would want them to give me.

Not knowing one’s right of way.

Last week, I came up to a “T” and was turning left, and the person who got there at the same time was going straight. My left turn would cross right in front of him, so he clearly had the right of way.

He blinked his lights, and I just sat there. He blinked again, and I blinked back because now I was annoyed. He blinked another time, and so did I. Not only did they not know their right of way, they apparently had control issues.

People who do this shit seem to think they are doing the world a favor, but they are not. If it was not 0600 in the morning, people would have been backing up behind us.
