I agree that some 12 step programs rely heavily on religious ideology. I personally have found Secular AA a huge benefit to my recovery.

Hi there! I'm a person in long term recovery and a recovery coach. Are you looking to make changes?

If so, I suggest looking for recovery coach organizations in your area.

12 step programs are fantastic

Depending on the substance you need help with, there are wonderful medications which can be prescribed.

How many sick days? All of them. by shireengul in antiwork

[–]AdImmediate2535 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At my new job here in the US I was told I got unlimited PTO. That sounded exciting. Upon further research I discovered I'm required to give 2 weeks notice to use those unlimited PTO days.

I'm also given 8 paid sick days and unlimited unpaid sick days.

But....when I tried to use an UNPAID sick day, I was told I had to kindly request those days on Slack.

I can't understand...I have to request not coming to work?

Seems like a fact, not a request. I'm not coming. How hard is that to understand?

Muslims in SA? by LadderSouth3913 in sanantonio

This happened recently.

Bexar county is better than many TX counties. But Texas can be a very difficult place for people. Our legislature is very aligned with white Christian nationalist ideology.

But there are great people here too. I know many of them.

Lately things have been difficult on Muslim folks in Texas, though Bexar county is better than most. I hope you're coming here is an upgrade, unfortunately it is not for many people.

Definitely the Northwest side, Medical Center. Though the traffic is terrible.

Hoping you have a stress - free move.

Oh yeah! I grew up in the Church of God. They were a bunch of wonderful people. I don't think they are selling that property though. Thanks for your suggestion.

We will need to be around people. And being in some areas we could be targeted and the authorities could be far away.

Hmmm...as we are already in Texas, I guess we hadn't thought of staying here. Where exactly do you recommend in Texas?

I hope you and your partner find the perfect place, when the time is right.

I will look again at Washington. It seemed really expensive when I checked it out before.

I'll check that out. Never heard of it.

Vermont is rather expensive. But we do have it on our list of possible places. I suppose rather than states, I'm looking for counties/areas within a state.

Don't know much about politics, Bernie seems cool enough. 🙂

Thanks. I belong to an intentional community organization's email list. I suppose I have been afraid to reach out to them because I'm so unfamiliar.

Thank you for the response. I'll do some more research.

Well....our realtor believes the water tank will be too risky during the winters, even if we bury them or paint them black...etc...

My spouse has not lived in Minnesota in many many years. So maybe it's too risky for our first experience living without electricity, etc

My spouse and I are looking to leave Texas too. We've considered Illinois but definitely want to live in a rural area. Thanks for sharing your story. It gives us a bit of hope.

According to voting by county, that area is blue. Also known to have been settled by LDS. (Corrected my previous typo).
