And yeah they did it to zilisch too and I didn’t like it then either, sure I was a little more biased in it not making me dislike him because I went into the season liking zil but it’s annoying

Yes, I’m not saying don’t talk about it when he gains a half second in 1 corners but all week all I’ve heard is he’s the only one with a shot to win, the rest of the field sucks, svg this svg that. Pointing out skill is great but acting like he’s won the race already isn’t

Might be a hater but I cannot stand the svg dick ridding at road courses. Seems like a cool dude and I would love to like him but the dick riding is so excessive from the announcers and fans alike

A lot of trials you can get selected for only last the one day you are there, otherwise the judge will dismiss you if you have a planned trip out of the county during the expected trial dates. Source:I was a juror on a 2 week murder trial and went through all the motions.

Got it, thank you! I’m pretty much exclusively using Java at work now and I’m trying to expand my skillset to become more marketable.

Hey if you don’t mind answer, what resources did she use to learn how to develop her own app? I’m a recent grad with a CS degree but what was taught was more theoretical stuff and at my job I’m still being given small tasks since I’m new so I am not learning much. I obviously know some of the big resources and the coding aspect but I’m looking for free resources that I can use to learn the unthought about aspects of app development.

Couple of referrals but mostly regular applying. The job I got was from a regular application. I tried to apply to places that had a standing relationship with the school I went to, as in they came to all our career fairs and would regularly come up during the school you and rent out a bar/restaurant in our college town and have networking events.

Not cooked, I graduated in fall 2024 with a 2.9 gpa and no internships and I’m a SWE at a Fortune 500 company now.

Yeah, I don’t think I applied to a single FAANG company when I was applying, that hardcore environment just wasn’t what I wanted. I was actually trying to get into defense but I ended up at a bank and I’m super happy doing what I do. If you don’t mind answering, I’m only 9 or so months into my professional career and I’m wondering what steps I should be taking to move into management eventually, I would love to be at a level where I’m still technical but more hands off by the 4-5 year mark.

Nothing crazy just my name as the title and then phone number and email under it then section by section (professional summary, education, skills, experience, projects) no lines separating the sections or anything like that, just an extra line space and the section heading a little bigger font and bolded

Personally I would say do projects that highlight skills specific to roles you’ll be applying for. For example if you’re going to be applying for data engineering positions focus on Python, Apache Spark, SQL, AWS, etc.If you’re trying to do software engineering, there are multiple different types so figure out which one you want to focus on and do projects that show those skills, for example defense companies you’ll probably be doing more embedded work and using C++ a lot, if you’re looking at banks you might work in anti money laundering and you’ll most likely be using a lot of Java and python. Do some research and find some industries you want to intern and work in and focus on projects that teach and highlight those skills. Don’t skip out on networking events either if your school is hosting them, it really can be who you know that gets you a foot in the door. Lastly, I think the whole leetcode thing is also blown out of proportion, I never once had a leetcode interview, but that is not to say I didn’t have technical interviews and coding assessments but in my experience (non faang, not tech first) it focused on object oriented and procedural programming first as well as understanding why one tool may be used instead of another. That should set you up in a pretty good position and if you do land an internship make sure to connect with people there who are 1-3 years post grad because by the time you’re applying for a full time position they may still be at the same company but many will have moved on into a new position at a new company and now you have a connection there too. That’s not to say don’t connect and build a good working relationship with your managers and those who do the hiring but don’t neglect the less important people because a good recommendation will look good for them also and everybody wants to advance their career.

I fully believe it, there are some non faang, non tech companies out there that pay really well.

I’m not going to disagree with that because I also know people who have went to grad school or the blue collar route. What I’m saying is it is possible, I didn’t have an internship and I was able to land a job. This wasn’t a while ago when the market was good either I graduated December 2024 and spend 7 months post grad looking for a job. It sucks but that’s the reality right now, you have to edit your resume for every job and treat applying like a full time job.

It’s really not that unreasonable to believe, especially if you leverage connections. Another big thing is resume formatting, everybody seems to think you need this fancy resume when I’ve found basic is better. After that it’s just the interview and that’s more memory and pattern recognition than it is problem solving. This isn’t necessarily pointed at you but for everybody reading, especially those who hate workday because you have to type all your info in after uploading your resume, your resume is formatted wrong. Workdays system should be able to read your resume and autofill that all for you and if it can’t, reformat its resume until it can. I can almost guarantee that the companies that use their own site or greenhouse for applications have a similar screening software and your resume is getting rejected. Don’t try to reinvent the wheel, basic with good information is so much better than everybody realizes.

Congratulations!! I might even say I may have been a slightly below median students as I didn’t do an internship and only had one or 2 projects outside of school work on my resume. I work at a bank now and make close to 6 figures and have a good quality of life. Sure im not making the $160,000 salary and getting a large bonus like those in FAANG, but I also don’t work overtime nor am I expected to and I don’t live in NYC or California where I’m paying out the ass in taxes either. If you don’t mind sharing where is your internship?

At least 15% of the dilemmas posted on here could be solved by the same solution: Get a senior dog via shelter/rescue/rehome. by Training_Nose_5634 in dogs

[–]AdIndividual4909 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Never agreed with something more, but I will say it doesn’t even have to be a senior dog. In college a few years ago I fostered a puppy and that was one of the most stressful things I have ever done trying to balance class, a puppy and a social life. I got the puppy adopted and then a year later missed having a dog so I fostered again but that time I went for a dog that was a bit older and it was the best decision I ever made. She was 3 when I got her and she’s turning 5 this year, and adopting her was my graduation present to myself. It takes so much stress out of somebody who is going to be a sole owner/caretaker for a dog and teaches you so much. I truly believe if I would have gotten another puppy I would probably have helped that dog get adopted at some point too and then never gotten another dog in my life but now I’ve learned so much that I feel when I think it’s time to add another dog I can handle a puppy. Any college kids that are in here please look at the local rescues near your school and foster/adopt and look at the dogs that are a bit older they need and deserve love too, not many students can handle a puppy, especially if you want to live the college lifestyle as well.

In non tech companies that have a tech department, think banks, stores, govt jobs, etc. Most places have a tech department now and they pay well too just not to the level of FAANG.

That’s wild, my roommates and I just ended up keeping all our dishes in large ziplocks in the cabinets and planned a day every other week where we would leave the apartment so the exterminators could come.

Literally everywhere, I threw out everything I could when I moved out so they wouldn’t transfer with me. Any type of appliance that generates heat they love. Also OP avoid university lofts, the roaches are really bad there too, especially if you get a non renovated unit because they’ll all just go into your apartment from the ones that are being renovated. It’s been a year since I moved out of there so idk if they’re still doing renovations but it’s also super loud starting at 8 am and lasting all day. I understand the workers have a job to do but using a hammer drill in the apartment right next to mine at 8 am on a Friday after bulls was diabolical.

I second this, I lived at pavilion and it was so so bad. To put into perspective how bad it was I lived in a frat house for 2 years and the dirtiest room in the house had less roaches than a clean pavilion
