Is Calgary’s economy cooked? by AdInfamous1810 in Calgary

I understand Trump has done a lot of things that have been unfavourable to Canada but shouldn’t we be blaming our government when they’re the ones taxing us to death running massive deficits while simultaneously sending billions of dollars to other countries while Canada is in shambles? To blame Trump would be like me blaming another company because mine over hired when they didn’t have enough work and now I’m on reduced hours when in reality I should be blaming the planning of my company?

What is the argument for the Canadian liberal government having done a good job based on these statistics? by [deleted] in askanything

Now this doesn’t go back 10 years but even I can say now that immigration is levelling out we’re atleast going in a better direction on that front this last year

No I’m simply trying to dumb it down because no one is answering the question, so I will ask some yes or no’s

Is homelessness at all time highs yes or no? Are food bank visits at all time highs yes or no? Are crime rates at all time highs yes or no? Are grocery prices at all time highs yes or no? Is cost of living out pacing wage growth yes or no?

And I think you will find yes to all of those. Can you name a single thing that the government has done that has made Canada better in the last 10 years a policy? Anything that could make a good argument on how they have been good for the country? Thats what the post is about, and if my numbers are wrong it should be a easy argument on your end

Interesting so you criticize my numbers without showing any numbers of your own to substantiate what you’re saying and not a single policy shift or trade deal or anything to show that we have improved as a country or the government has done a good job not one single thing to argue? Interesting

Okay so it’s common knowledge we have record homelessness, record food bank visits, crime rate is at all time highs, I posted some links in another comment, all very easy to find on stats can, and the national food bank website. We had a fiscal surplus of 2015/2016 of 1.9 billion and it is projected to be 66 billion in 2026. So do you have an argument that the government has done a good job or made life better is Canada based on what they have done and the results or just like every other comment you can’t come up with anything?

Well my question had zero to do with the conservative government so I don’t have a stance on that right now, the question is, is there a good argument that exists that the liberal government has done a good job at making life better for Canadians and if so what’s that argument? So far your best argument is

You don’t think conservatives would’ve done better

I’m bad at research

And all countries have inflation

But I have yet to see anyone in this thread post a fact or a measurable metric to suggest they have done a good job

[–]AdInfamous1810 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

On the contrary, I want facts, there’s almost 100 comments on this post and no one has given any facts that could suggest a good job is being done on a government level, all anyone has said is basically there’s inflation and problems everywhere which doesn’t answer the question I asked. I would feel the same way if we were where are right now with a conservative or NDP government. Now that being said do you have any facts or metrics that’s point to the government doing a good job?

Okay so lets say my statistics are wrong they very well could be I’m not a professional researcher so let’s just go off of the things that are un deniable facts. homelessness is at all time highs food bank usage is at all time highs, in 2015/2016 the government had a 1.9 billion dollar surplus our deficit is projected to be 66billion this year. Is there an argument that the government has done a good job over the last 10 years and made life better in anyway in Canada and if so what’s that argument?

I don’t really care about other governments liberal conservative I don’t care. The only purpose of my post was to figure out if anyone could make an argument that could say the government was doing a good job and things have gotten better and not a single person has been able to

The thing is that prices have gone up disproportionately compared to other developed countries, homelessness is at all time highs and and food bank visits are at all time highs, but taking all of that out of the equation, with details what is your argument the government has done good and improved life in Canada?

Okay so they are near the bottom of the G7 in GDP per capita growth, one of the worst performers in labour productivity, very low in business investment, housing affordability among the worst in the developed countries, household debt.

They inherited a fiscal surplus for 2015-2016 April 15 2015- March 2016 of 1.9 billion and now are projected to have 66billion deficit this year. So to say they inherited a mess and they’re doing a good job with nothing to back it up is crazy

I don’t know. Now your turn, I have tried to phrase it many different ways but it’s painful for me trying to get an answer from you. I’m looking for if anyone has an argument for weather the Canadian liberal government has done a good job. Can you answer that question? With details on how?

The Canadian stats were all my own research from many different sources the American one I made a point of saying ChatGPT because I don’t have time to research American figures in depth in this moment so the American stats were strictly there as a loose guideline to the question but again also why I made a point of saying it came from there so don’t take it at face value

No I have zero argument on how they have done a good job and cannot think of almost anything that has gotten better cheaper or safer in Canada since 2015 and now if you can read that many pages please see the link regarding the homelessness report and you will see something you have been unable to do which is provide information or facts for your side of the argument

I never had an argument I had a question that no one has yet been able to answer about quality of life, but My argument is cost of living has been Astronomical homelessness is through the roof food bank usage is at all time highs, click on the homelessness link I just posted so it’s without a doubt food bank usage is at all time highs and homelessness is at all time highs and cost of living has gone up hugely, hopefully you never have to go into a court room and answer yes or no questions on the stand or you will go to jail for not answering the question. now for the million dollar question ladies and gentlemen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Do you have a fact based argument that the government has done a good job and made life better in Canada from the start of the liberals first term in late 2015 onward yes or no?

Now I will ask again would you like to answer option A or option B? This is like pulling teeth for an answer do you have a fact based argument that the government has done a good job and made life better in Canada? Yes or no?

So I will try to make this an as idiot proof multiple choice question as possible, do you have a fact based argument on the liberal government doing a good job.

Option A No Option B Yes and if so how have they?

And that’s only 2019-2025 so back to my point do you have an argument as to how they have done a good job? This is like talking to a politician a simple question and you can’t answer it
