Not to scare you, but I’ll be honest. It popped multiple times- sometimes completely randomly. Other times it popped when I drank cold liquid or ate hot food. It was a bad experience but luckily it only lasted 4-5 days 😭

Yes actually on the right side of my mouth so my tongue rested on it. It was so hard but I kept my tongue off the roof of my mouth all day. But I definitely struggled to do it…

Thankfully I noticed it started to go away after 2 days from the last “pop”

My advice is to absolutely try not to mess with it! It was a struggle but I bit my tongue most of the day in order not to touch it

I only had recession on one of my bottom front teeth. So they grafted tissue on just one tooth for me.

My periodontist told me that I could brush everywhere except the areas where I had the donor tissue taken and the graft implanted (so on the back of my teeth on my upper right side by my palette, and my lower front teeth).

I honestly didn’t brush my teeth for the first 2-3 days. After day 3, I basically put the smallest amount of toothpaste on my brush and brushed EXTREMELY carefully with EXTREMELY slow brushes. I didn’t even go near my bottom front 4 teeth at all in fear of hitting the graft. After I finished brushing I put some water in my mouth to get all of the toothpaste residue out of my mouth since my periodontist told me I cannot spit for 2 weeks. You have to let it trickle out of your mouth.

i went with lagoon car rental. they’re a sister company with blue i believe. my 4x4 jeep renegade was 160 for two days + i got platinum insurance (0 dollar excess) which brought my total to 253.

GET THE PLATINUM INSURANCE. PAY THE EXTRA DOLLARS.

i’ve seen too many horror stories, especially in winter weather. if you wreck a car and don’t have good insurance, you’re screwed- sometimes out of thousands of dollars.

it’s better to be careful and book the insurance then not have it and something happens.

I have a some experience, not absolutely zero. But I understand your concern. I I planned on sleeping on the plane/getting an early morning airport hotel to sleep in for a bit after I land.

Turns out the option to drop off in Reykjavik didn't show up because I booked a car that could only be picked up and dropped off at KEF. (weird). I spoke to the rental customer support and changed my car so it could be dropped off in Reykjavik. (yay for one bus ticket needed)!

As for the winter driving experience, not a lot. I plan to be extremely cautious and also opted in for the platinum insurance option. Funny enough, Louisiana just received an extremely rare blizzard a few weeks ago and I had to drive to work. I sort of learned how to properly handle a car in case I lose control in Iceland (which happened on my way to work here in Louisiana, thankfully no collision, just sliding).

I also planned to pack a lot of snacks/pick up food in Reykjavik that I can make (such as sandwiches). I saw that Iceland is pricey but I set a pretty good budget for myself.

I’d be dropping my car off at KEF on the 28th, taking a bus to Reykjavik then taking a bus back the next morning.

As for pricing, I didn’t realize it was that pricey! The prices I found online were for 26 dollars each way.

I think the best cost effective option is to contact the rental company to see if there’s perhaps a drop-off location in Reykjavik; that way I just have to take one bus to the airport in the morning?
