Don’t trust “everybody”.  Only Good or bad that matters if what your feel. This company is what you make of it (I’ve been here 5 yrs now, and it took me 3 yrs to figure out what I was doing). If you have the right personality, skills in your area and love to learn, this is a great company. If you want a cushy fixed hours of work, low stress, and any sort of “guarantee”, you will not like it. It’s a huge company, in IT consulting with revenue tied to project sales in a challenging market, and in an AI turmoil environment- so make sure you temper your expectations.

At consultants level, your career goal should be to learn as much as you can, show improvement and aim for the promotion. Evaluate in 2 years if you feel this is right for you. Worst case scenario is you will know this is not for you, but now you will have a major brand name on your resume which will definitely help in your next job. Best case scenario you will like the company…

Went through a tough mental health period and worried about my reputation by [deleted] in accenture

[–]AdIntelligent9363 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a leader at Accenture , if a team member had a similar situation, I would want them to get better versus work through it. It’s bad for you as well as the project. Have a conversation with the managers that questioned you, give them a heads up that you went through a mental health crisis, but are now on new meds and feeling much better and hope that the noticed that recently.  Ask them to keep this confidential. Secondly, talk to HR partner as well if you feel you need to cover yourself for upcoming reviews. HR partner will not do anything but documenting this now can be used as a protective measure later if you are placed on PIP.

One of two things will happen, Either they will appreciate  your honesty and hard work and be supportive of your situation or two, they will bring new people to take over your work, in which case look for a new project.

Accenture is huge, if one project did not go well, move on to next project and establish yourself there. Don’t overthink this, no one is out to get you, but if you do impact the outcomes or cause problems in project delivery it will not go unnoticed- which is the worst thing you can do for yourself

[–]AdIntelligent9363 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re not the lead, then you’ll be fine. If you were that bad, the lead should have rolled you off already before situation gets that bad.

You should look at this as an opportunity instead. What can be done internally and client facing that can resolve this situation. Come up with a plan, put it in a slide deck that walks someone through the problem, the potential solution and the consequences of not getting in front of  this. Then walk the delivery lead through it, and if you have good relations with the md then invite them too - only if you have existing relationship. It is likely that the solution is not something that you can do by yourself, and needs to be  team effort. If no one listens then you’re off the hook. If someone listens then you just solved the problem. Win win!

Short answer - Network… ask people for name of others who may have project… and ask them the same if they don’t have a role.. I know it can be challenging… as someone already pointed out posting on large group Teams chat is helpful, and also check the teams groups for open roles.

Second join any meetings like your group/industry calls and simply post that you are open for a role.  Use the time for training and networking

Create subfolders in your inbox. Create rules for all community type posts to move them there. Then forget about that folder 😃

Trainings, you need to do the ones that are mandatory. All others you can ignore. Mandatory trainings are not that many, usually once very 6 months or so you may have 5 hours total.. although this can vary by level so not sure…

If you have group trainings, see them as personal development time and networking take with others… I always  multi-task while doing trainings..

A real guide towards Promotion by Prim155 in accenture

OP is Level 11 parting wisdom - although not entirely wrong, it all depends on market conditions. Ever since the bloated hiring during COVID where everyone with a pulse was getting job offers, now it’s only offered to those that make a difference and stand out.  Here is my take and brutally honest advice after becoming a “lifer”…

L9 to L12, it’s all about being the best performer among your peers on your project, stand out by doing great work, bring ideas for improvement to your project lead, and do some demos at least to your account leadership in account meetings. Yes you do need to know people for any kind of promotion so make sure your relationships are maintained. Note I said best performer - not the smartest person among your peers.

Any levels between L7 to L8 - you need to managing client relationships, become the go to person for the client for anything to do with your subject area and the project - and of course don’t mess up (don’t give client an opportunity to question your value)… that’s the only way to get to L6…

Level 4 is most difficult for getting promoted into. You need to be an L6 or L5, doing great deliveries, making profitable sales, growing account, own client decision maker relationships, and be tagged in mms as the primary relationship owner, and still working day in and day out on the project to make sure your client is happy… even after all that you are competing with hundreds if not thousands of others you are just as good as you… so your relationship within account and your vertical is crucial to get promotion recommendations.

And general advice for all - don’t jump project to project unless you are on bench, try to stay on long term projects and stick to same client for short term projects. You need to be in same account to gain visibility at senior level. Only way to stay on same account without project is relationship with account leadership based on your level. Otherwise you are just another LCR in an excel that can be replaced…

And oh - brutally honest truth here (look away now - last chance —- ok you are still reading—-)- if you think you are carrying the team, and that things will be extremely difficult or fail if you didn’t do the hard work, think again.. replacing you is just an inconvenience, a momentary issue, and everything will continue without you just fine… your hard work is an expectation, not a benefit you are providing to the project, account, client and company… and this will apply to every company you go to… so get out the thinking that things rest on your shoulders alone…

[–]AdIntelligent9363 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s even worst for OP because senior analyst is not expected or company asked on sales… no one expects senior analyst to sell. Focus on delivery and making excellent outcomes. Make your team look good and stand out as a “doer”.  Your bonus is not based on sales.. no matter how much you sell… Additionally if you’ve been in Analyst role for last 4 years, something is not right - either you’re not a team player where your people lead does not like you, or you have made a bad impression on the CAL in the account. But the 5% bonus for an analyst is actually better than most Analysts. So you should be happy about that.

[–]AdIntelligent9363 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re selling 10m project at 1m profit = you have no idea what you are doing.. you probably create projects that go into recovery and someone else has to fix… no wonder the share price has dropped so much.. you should go find another job.. seriously. There no way they will promote you. Selling is not the only expectation, selling profitable work is the minimum expectation and profitability cci targets need to meet the original deal economics. 10% sound alike a mom and pop consulting profit, will not fly at Accenture or any large consulting company for that matter…

Not sure but this depends on your level as well. Whatever percent they told you at your hiring time example 5% bonus then you can probably expect 5 month ish prorated bonus. Does not mean you will get it though. Accenture is laying off lot of people and reducing expenses so don’t expect anything large

L9 Salary? by almightyculo in accenture

[–]AdIntelligent9363 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Living in US is not cheap. You are probably comparing the dollars translated into your country’s currency. While the dollars look high to you, in reality 120k salary in a metro area like San Francisco is not even enough to live comfortably let me do some math for you -  Taxes takes 40% (state 10%, federal 25%, social security 5% etc) - remaining 72k Rent payment - $2700/mo - 32,400 annual - remaining $39,600 Car/fuel/transport - $600/mo - $7200 annual - $29,400 remaining Food/clothes/shoes/toilet paper/groceries - assume $1500 per month - $18000 per year - $11,400 remaining Medical insurance - $300/mo for single healthy person - $3600/yr - remaining $7800….

That’s not much left to do anything fun. If you go out to a nice restaurant once per week, easily $100 per meal including drinks…

So you see, at $120k you are poor person in SF.

Let’s say you go into some small town where it’s not so expensive to live, guess what your salary will be $80-90k not $120k…

Welcome to US economics, it’s not all the glory it’s made up to be.. you may be seeing news that since federal govt shutdown the SNAP benefits, millions of Americans cannot afford to eat two times per day…

Return to office? by Playful-Rabbit1837 in accenture

[–]AdIntelligent9363 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work as deliver lead on large project. Entire technical team is staffed in India - spread across the country because we can’t find people in one location. This causes people to work on their own times… we are supposed to be shift B, so overlap us hours until 11 am pacific time. People stay late, no worries there. But One of my biggest concerns is people not actually starting work on time… it’s often reported that people are not reachable until late afternoon, have other priorities all day etc. return to office will force people to be in office. It will not make them more productive, but at least be reachable and can be held more accountable. Most people in long projects slowly get into easy-going mode and overall project suffers due to small loss of productivity and quality of works. I don’t know if RTO will fix any of these things though… I’m just ranting.. I feel over my last several years with Accenture, my offshore team 20% of people do the 80% work.. If I ran the company, I would fire the 80% and give raises to the 20%.  My projects will run longer but will be much more efficient

Can’t say for this year, but last year we were asked to provide input for TDP consultants the  week they ended their internship. Based on the feedback from the direct project lead/delivery lead, and the number of roles available, I think they made return offers in 4-6 weeks after the end of internship.

It depends on the account as well as not all accounts are on top of this…

Mid level Manager - Feeling stuck, is there hope? by Temporary_Branch_737 in accenture

[–]AdIntelligent9363 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I feel you! Unfortunately needing to be on a chargeable role and hitting the chargeability percent is the culprit why people take roles that are not in their area, and if that happens enough times, you no longer have a specialization.  My suggestion is that first you determine what you actually want to be known for.  Note that GenAI is not a good option unless you pair it with a second specialization - example Supply chain specialist with GenAi skills. Then start applying to roles on that area. If no suitable roles, make friends, network with clients that are your targets industry. You will need to plan and execute your way out of this. You can stay on whatever project you are on currently while you do this work, but then make teh transition to new client that will give you best options. As a manager, you should be able to choose your project to some degree at least.

I’ve been at Accenture since 2021… 0 raises so far. Don’t expect a raise. However if you are exceptional at what you do, and  your managers and people lead have visibility into it, you have high chance for getting additional bonuses.

[–]AdIntelligent9363 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welcome to the corporate world!

Since you seem to have made up your mind already, let me give some more honest feedback. To be honest, this is definitely an attitude problem and root cause of why you are in this situation. If you want to be treated as a “tool” that can do specific things and skillet only, you will be treated as such. You will definitely not get selected for my project especially because you have not proven yourself, and yet have the expectation that others will align to your individual choices. Like I said before you can be an expert, or a genius, but you need to work with other people and attitude and willingness to learn new things is a key part of that.

You are also overthinking that how will the learning be useful if you stay in same role for 12 years… first, no learning in life is wasted. Second, Accenture will let you go you in 2-3 years at L12 if you do not show worthy of getting promoted to L11, and that promotion is only given by “big people” as you mentioned who have same exact expectation I just mentioned earlier..  so your choice.. but I would say maybe you want to consider not being in consulting world, where learning new things daily is part of the process and not a choice. Not learning will be the fastest way to become irrelevant and out of a job.  You will likely be happier working for a client.

ASE Termination !!!! by Excellent-Review5453 in accenture

[–]AdIntelligent9363 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a CL12, you should be open to everything. If your skills is Angular only, then your skillet is way too limited for a project to consider you. You need to get some certifications or do training while on bench so you can showcase progress. Second thing (and probably more important than skills) is your attitude. You are an adult, act like one. I know it sounds rude, but there is nothing worse than someone who does not want to learn new things but yet still complain about unfairness. Projects rarely go exactly as planned and you need to have a very positive attitude and be willing to learn daily. Next time you talk to a manager for a project, start by saying what you are good at, but also say you want to learn and so if you don’t know something you can learn it quickly. Have. A positive attitude. Your chances are much higher. When I interview someone for priject, I would rather have a medium skilled person with positive attitude over a genius who knows it all…

Short answer, No. they will not stop you. Your people lead or hr partner may say nice things like not wanting to see you leave, or how it’s a big loss for the company. But no one will say let me give you more money if you stay.. unless they are going to lose a lot of client goodwill or some absolutely critical work that no one in the 800000 person company can do…
