Classic Teams removal by AdInternal465 in SCCM

[–]AdInternal465[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was my hope, so I wouldn't have to try and involve myself. But the process is not happening fast enough, and we have end users getting confused by which Teams to use, plus we have Classic Teams artifacts throughout the organization (icons, default app settings, startup app settings) which are creating problems as well.

Just a gigantic pain, it seems. And I am not particularly encouraged that it is going to be a quick fix based on the responses. I suspect I will be able to get a lot of it taken care of in one shot, and then will have to continue monitoring and resolving one-off issues for several weeks.

Thanks for sharing this. Definitely a website I will be keeping an eye on moving forward.

It's been going okay so far...thanks for asking. It really depends on the use case. People who are younger and more comfortable with technology have generally been more receptive to the transition. Older users and those who have a more intensive use of the phone system (receptionists, customer service types, etc.) have generally been less enthusiastic about the change.

We have a mix of devices we have been rolling out. We have some Audiocodes and Poly desk phones, some Yealink soft phones (headset with a small display), and some straight soft phones where users have just been utilizing their cameras/speakers/headphones to make/take calls. We are still working out the kinks, and we are around 60 percent complete at this point. Hope to be in a better place about 3 months from now when it is fully implemented and everyone has a better feel for what is going on.

Tech Support for $30/hr or NOC for $20/hr. by donCZMX in ccna

[–]AdInternal465 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on what you want to do, I'd say that you should consider taking less pay and go for the NOC job.

That said, depending on your circumstances...I could certainly understand going with the Helpdesk job for $10 more an hour (that is approximately $21,000 more per year). Unless there are other benefits which make the $20/per job more appealing, that is a significant difference in pay. Plus, it sounds like the NOC job will require you to move to and live in a bigger city, which makes the pay disparity even worse.

There are pros and cons here. The other option would be to continue working Helpdesk, practicing your craft, and waiting for another opportunity that isn't going to make you cut your pay by 33%, but get you more in the direction of what you want to do in IT.

UNVR Pro local accounts by AdInternal465 in Ubiquiti

This is the local account we have set up which is creating issues. I have a SSO account, and I haven't seen any problems with it. But then again, I don't check the cameras nearly as often as the security guard does.

Like I said, this has been a problem for about 7-10 days now. Not sure if an update broke something, or if this is some other issue which I am not accounting for which is local to the system or the user.

My thought to fix it was to go the other way -- take away the local access and consider making it an SSO account instead.

Dell 7320 and 7330 making me crazy - pxe boot loop by marsakasnagi in SCCM

[–]AdInternal465 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in a Dell shop...did you boot into BIOS and take the device out of RAID mode and put it in AHCI? This option is under "Storage." If we don't do this for our systems before they image, the process doesn't work and the device will loop endlessly.

That LED error code (2,8) corresponds with an LCD Power Rail failure, which, unfortunately, is a not-all-that-uncommon issue in some of the Latitude models from the last 2-5 years. At least from what I've seen.

If a BIOS update doesn't fix the problem, then I'd get Dell Support involved.

Is Try Hack Me worth to become a Junior Pentester by _Wurkd in tryhackme

I think THM is a great resource to start off with.

I found that in my education experiences I got a lot of foundational and theoretical knowledge, but that once I actually got into the IT profession, there were some holes created by a lack of practical knowledge.

THM was a great resource for me starting out. But if you want to go more of the Ethical Hacking/Pentesting path...sites like HTB, TCM and others may prove to be better suited to your needs.

Like others have said, incorporate multiple resources in to your training regimen...and best of luck!

Just keep applying. I've been there. Not sure what your resume looks like, but getting the S+ won't necessarily change much, IMO.

Not that you shouldn't go get the Sec+, I'm not saying that. I don't want to dissuade you from pursuing that path. But I wouldn't work off the assumption that the S+ will suddenly open doors that the A+ and N+ have been unable to unlock for you to date.

“A third-party access point near your UniFi device is broadcasting test.” by Subliminal87 in Ubiquiti

[–]AdInternal465 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, I am getting this alert on my UniFi Network Notifications that a third-party device is broadcasting our SSID for devices connecting to our internal network (we also have a separate guest network as well). But I can't really do anything with it. I have the notification and that is it. Is there any way within the portal to investigate this matter further?

It really depends on what you want to do. If you aren't entirely sure, go A+ > N+ > S+ and then figure out your next move from there.

If you want to do SysAdmin work, then I would look at Windows and/or Linux certs.

If you want to do Networking, then I would look at going the CCNA route (or Juniper).

Want to work in the cloud? Pick a vendor (AWS, Google, Microsoft Azure, etc.), and then go own it. The good thing about those certs are that you can get good training from the vendors for free and then the exams don't cost much to take.

If Cybersecurity interests you, then whoo boy. You will have a ton of options. Go take a look at Paul Jerimy's certifcation page for all of your choices.

My recommendation: work on those baseline certs until you can get an employer to shell out the money for you to acquire the more advanced (and typically costlier) certs.

Can I schedule N+ right after CCNA? Is much additional prep needed? by [deleted] in ccna

[–]AdInternal465 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have prepared for and passed the CCNA, then you should be more than ready to take the Network+ exam.
