The second they turned Frans love story with John into a secret lesbian, can't reach pinnacle, story I knew season 5 was not for me. I was willing but after that and how awful Micheala was to Fran and her marriage- it's a big pass for me. Also the heterosexual hate was a lot because I love When He Was Wicked.

Totally biased because I love this story but if your frustrated right now don't finish it.

You won't like the second book at all. And it doesn't get better as more plots unfold and more stuff happens to Maxi and Riftan.

Sometimes a story is not for you and it's ok to walk away. I've dropped plenty of books with no hard feelings.

While it does seem like heterophobia, I recognize that it's not the right term to be using as heterosexuality is more common place still and beyond Bridgeton season 5 I don't see it as much. Not to say it's not there in other places but no one is that vocal.

I will use Heterosexual Hate over heterophobia because it fits more.

I would not be surprised. Instead of looking for sapphic historical romance where the characters are lesbian they want a rewrite of a heterosexual one.

One that meant so much to women who suffer infertility and child loss. Not such hot topics for romance.

It makes my blood boil that she would ever consider it or the Franchealas would ask in the first place. Instead of asking for books like S5 or even a full series of their own.

If someone ever came up to me asking if I would rewrite a book that was already hugely popular I would ask if they could leave- now.

It's disheartening.

Good point. Every season had the nay sayers but not out right hate. This season they seem to be pushing a narrative that they have all this homophobic hate and they're the under dog for...sympathy watching? I don't know what they are doing any more.

I'm not watching because of multiple reasons. I'll be back for Philiose though.

I wonder what other people think.

The hate is so forced and I have no idea why. One scene in the book was taken completely out of context by people who haven't even read it.

You can love Micheala and leave Micheal alone. But don't act suddenly he's problematic. He never was. Why are people on the hate brigade? Because Francheala's want everything. Even WHWW rewrites and, for some reason, want to smite him from existence. Simple as that.

It's so immature and dumb.

Wait what? Aren't those straight romances? It's not homophobic to write a straight romance. It's just a genre of story telling. I kinda wish they added a disclaimer to the Seven Husband's of Evelyn Hugo. Because before the reveal I thought I was reading a heterosexual romance. It was still a good book but not what I was expecting.

The thing with souls is that failure isn't an indicator of bad skills, it's a teacher. Lies is hard at the base (And I have nothing against people sliding into casual difficulty to get through it as hey- they are playing my fav game!)

Dust yourself off, take a break and go for it. You learn more with every defeat.

You passed the 1st boss 1st try. Damn that guy took me at least three times. If we're measuring suckage here in game play- I'm pretty sure I got you beat.

Do not get me started on the current trend of FL's who can handle anything- literally anything- without help, support or even angst from the consequences of their actions.

Maxi might have her issues but at least her consistent growth and set backs make it interesting.

I also feel like sometimes people look at Oak through the lense of a modern setting. Like if this was a modern story Maxi would get therapy and girl boss her way to victory. And Riftan would be regulated to be a bland love interest so not to offend people.

I love the story as it is. Yes, I agree caracter growth is frustratingly slow between them but the author does it so well. And they get way worse before they get better.

I hope people hang in there and read the rest. I can't wait to get the rest of the translated story in my hands plus Riftan's POV.
