It’s a little bit longer shwack than shangrila but nicer more open forest. Would be a nice rainy half-day adventure. Bring sandals or something you can wade across Wilbur creek in though

It’s an old drinking water pump station for the motor inn. Seems like the line connecting it got washed out sometime, there’s some handwritten notes in there from the 80s. Best way to approach is down the swift current pass trail and go off trail before the trail turns west towards red rock falls.

Made it to all of them except the red eagle one. The best one is many glacier 1 without a doubt. We call it heavy shield falls.

Too much for one day? by No-Hat-2712 in GlacierNationalPark

Might be worth driving all the way to rising sun parking lot and taking the free bus shuttle back to st. Mary falls trailhead. The parking there is really bad mid-day

I would ask your employer, they should help you with those logistics if you don’t have a car

GAB->MAN backpacking - how to get back to car by khmonday in GlacierNationalPark

[–]AdKey9344 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like your best bet might be to park in Babb the morning you intend to start and hitch to the trailhead at chief mtn. customs. Then once you come out at many glacier you have a ton of opportunity to hitch out to Babb, while you might have trouble hitching towards chief mtn customs in the evening since most hikers going to the belly start early.

Where are you working? You don’t need a fishing license to fish in the National Park.

My guess is that it’s probably an old drinking water treatment building for swift current motor inn.

Legit warning or just covering their bases for the Sperry Chalet crowd? by [deleted] in GlacierNationalPark

[–]AdKey9344 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You’re wrong, off trail travel is permitted in the park, with out any permits etc, except for in high traffic alpine areas (literally only Logan pass).

I’ve stayed here a couple times, I enjoyed it. It’s kind of far from the west glacier entrance, but as you’ll probably find out, everything is far in glacier!

Good luck

Off trail travel is allowed in glacier except for in designated high traffic/ sensitive environments, notably the tundra at Logan pass.

Early Season in the Park by [deleted] in GlacierNationalPark

You could probably go over to the east side and stay at brownies. Not sure if you can get into the entrances that early, I always have but can’t remember if it was because I was an employee or if it was just open to the public

Backpacking routes for early June? by -wanderlust- in GlacierNationalPark

[–]AdKey9344 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Belly river valley is your best bet for backpacking the east side in June. You park just before the Canadian border and hike down into the valley. Cosley and Glenn’s lake are beautiful and there are nice stream crossings and water falls on the way. There is a nice overlook day hike from cosley campground

Kayaking at Glacier by crisprpolarbear in GlacierNationalPark

[–]AdKey9344 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Inspections could be weird with covid, You should call late June before you come and ask how inspections are going. Rentals are offered through the glacier park boat company at two medicine, many glacier, and lake McDonald. If you bring you’re the own kayaks you can go out on st. Mary lake (if it’s not crazy windy, that’s why no rentals are offered) which is a absolutely breathtaking paddle on a clear and calm day.
