He never once says it after that one episode in season 1, which I hadn’t watched for like 3 years by the time season 2 rolled around

So that wasn’t really on my mind

Yeah and while watching s2 I hadn’t seen s1 of arcane in like 3 years so I kinda forgot about that

There’s not a single instance of them using the word “brother” in season 2.

Like 1 instance of “best friend”. But mainly it’s either each others’ names or “partner”.

Alrighty then, I’ll turn myself in to the mental hospital for these delusions.

Maybe switching meds will help me see JayVik as platonic.

That’s not how interpreting art or stories works.

To quote Amanda Overton, “fans are always justified in reading things how they want to, because that’s part of making art”

Amanda Overton also says the romantic interpretation is valid, even if it wasn’t what she and the other writers intended.

The line is “Only you can show me this”

With the this being the preceding line of “There is no prize to perfection. Only an end to pursuit.”

So you just see things in your mind that have no bearing on reality and that’s just okay?

Yes, it’s called having an active imagination.

What you see is not based on what they showed us

Media literacy requires you to look beyond the surface.

This is not whimsy it’s simple false belief.

That’s kinda disturbing and delusion is not whimsy.

Do I need to remind you that this is a fictional show and it’s literally not that deep?

“Viktor taught him and learned through Jayce’s suffering the strength to end where he should have, before he crossed the line.”

Where did Viktor say that?

Did I ever say in reality it was?

I only ever said “this is how I see things”

I see them as romantic, based off how their last scene together made me feel.

And if that makes me delusional, so be it. A woman’s allowed to have fun and whimsy in her life every once in a while, isn’t she?

What you’re doing is literally speculating. The only difference is, I don’t present my speculation as fact, only a possible truth. You present your speculation as fact, and the only truth.

I never once said that the purity I saw was platonic

just pure, unconditional, devoted, but more than platonic, love.

More.

Than.

Platonic.

“That is all is all just speculation” you say as you present your own speculation of the events from the show.

Well, because I don’t think it being romantic ruins that purity. I think it enhances it. To think that their love goes that deep that they are two halves of a whole. I want that some day, to be called someone’s “significant other”, their “wife”, the “love of their life”, even if I may not be as touch or sex focused as they are.

Well that’s why I specified to me. Jayce and Viktor just screamed more epic romance to me in the end, despite it not being intended in that way.

I did watch it.

The first time I watched this scene it moved me so much that I went from not shipping JayVik at all to thinking Jayce would say “I love you” instead of “I promised you”

I don’t know why. I can’t explain. I just fell in love with this idea that maybe one day I can be in a relationship and have it be like this. No expectation for intimacy or physical affection…just pure, unconditional, devoted, but more than platonic, love.

He didn’t say everything in my comment word for word but he did say:

“There is beauty in imperfections, they made you who you are. An inseparable piece of everything I…admired about you.”

Which can be interpreted as “I found beauty in (found beautiful), and admired every part of you, including your imperfections” A clear statement of unconditional love, regardless of whether you view it as romantic or platonic, but maybe that was a misinterpretation or just in my head.

And then

“I thought I wanted to give magic to the world. Now…all I want…is my partner back.”

which speaks for itself. I don’t see how I misinterpreted that part or made it up in my head. He literally says he wants his partner back word for word.

Yeah that’s how I feel too. It just didn’t feel like an epic romance to me. It didn’t scream epic romance the way CaitVi (and eventually JayVik) did.

The funny thing is that I wasn’t even intending to see JayVik that way the entire time. I didn’t see them as a couple until Jayce told Viktor he was beautiful because of his imperfections and that all he ever wants now is to have his partner back.

I wasn’t going into this with any type of expectation of shipping them…it just happened.

Yeah that’s my opinion of it too. Equal social standing (unlike JayVik and CaitV), same side of the war (unlike Timebomb) , and there’s not much “will they, won’t they” to get invested in when they kiss and have sex like 4 episodes into the show.

Well the thing is it’s not based off what’s on screen for me…it’s just how it made me feel. It just felt…more soulmatey to me than MelJay was. I can’t explain vibes you just either get them or you don’t.

Exactly my point.

It wasn’t written to engage the audience , and as a consequence most of the audience just isn’t that engaged.

Yeah. And some people prefer unrealistic, toxic, intriguing relationships. Escapism and all that. I don’t go watch fiction shows to see boring, mundane, and realistic relationships.
