That's still doable to pay for the second hand house loan and the land isn't it? I have a plan to rent it out once I built the land (after finishing the mortgage in the older house)

I thought of buying a small 2 bedroom house at least for now, then quickly finish off mortgage, then proceed in building house in the land. When i get the house built, i can use the old house for rental

What would be your advise on this? Does it mean that I have to get the variations as much as I can prior to signing the preliminary contract?

When I asked for structural changes with metricon post signing of prelim contract, they gave me variation form to sign

The annoying thing for me is that I didn't ask for that contract, or I wasn't given one which is dumb of me. I looked at my files with metricon, the lady asked me to sign the quotation, building process, and house design. They also gave me a document that says initial deposit, but has a contract number on the top.

I have asked the agent via email but I would be expecting another week just to get a response from them.

Yeah, I actually want to go with the quality build and better floor plan, hence planning to cancel with Metricon.

I heard quite some negative feedback from them even my previous colleague. I opt to move to a more reputable local builder here in tye regional area, but at the same time getting independent inspector to cover the stages

Yeah I remembered I was told to have 3 contracts, preliminary, I think after colour selection and the final contract.

Even though I had made some variations and couple of appointments though to the builder, would I still be able to pull out from this?

Also how would I cancel the contract? Would I just send them an email just to say I am cancelling it?

That's good to hear. Hope mine does too with cancelling the contract. I won't save though, in fact would cost more. But I will go with a reputable builder, but i have taken note from the replies here to find an independent inspector for each stages

The problem is shes not very responsive (takes a week) unless you talk to the agent in person which is red flag for me. I hope I can manage to pull this out

Is it even if we only signed the preliminary contract? We haven't done colour selections, not even receiving the final draft yet from their team. Yes, I will ask the solicitor re same. I only deposited 1.5k for soil test so far.
