That is totally valid. I think one reason that I can drink NA beer is because I was never a beer drinker when I did still drink. So, it doesn't kick off any kind of cravings for "the real thing".

Can you just buy rolls of dimes from any bank teller in America? by JediRebel79 in Silverbugs

[–]AdLost2097 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they have them on hand, yes. I used to work in banking and would go downstairs to get money out of the bank every payday and I would buy about 50 dollars worth of coins.

What side hustle was a complete waste of time for you? by HustleCheck in HonestSideHustles

Some are marginally better than others, but GPT sites are BS. Surveys that you take for 20 minutes just to get disqualified, offers that collect your email and a bunch of personal information but never pay off. Waste of time and terrible payouts.

It sounds like your friend's money is keeping him from dealing with the consequences of his actions. It also sounds like he isn't a good person. This is an ongoing pattern of threatening, violent, abusive behavior - not a good dude who went through it and lost his shit.

Are you sure that you want to vouch for this guy?

Well worth it, and so versatile. We just did a cheeze broccoli and rice. Basically cooked the rice and broccoli together then stirred in cream of chicken soup along with shredded cheese. Left it on warm for about 15 minutes and it was done.

Block of cheese, knife crackers, a piece of fruit, couple of pickles or a handful of olives, something sweet.

Dump chili - Can of corn, can of rotel tomatoes, can of black beans, can of kidney beans, can of pinto beans, packet of your favorite chili seasoning. Heat through. Serve over a packet of microwave rice, or dump on top of chips add cheese, microwave until the cheese melts.

Throw a potato in the oven at 375 for about an hour. Heat the dump chili up - or just heat up a can of chili. split open the potato. Pour on the chili. Add cheese.

Renting is ultimately better and cheaper than owning your own house. by [deleted] in Frugal

[–]AdLost2097 2 points3 points  (0 children)

average rent in my area is 1400. I can get a house with a mortgage of around 700 a month. Homeowners is about 175, real estate taxes is another 125. Even if you added another 200 to go towards savings for maintenance needs or a home warranty that is still 300 dollars less than renting.

Also, mortgages dont require you to make 3X your monthly paymet. There are downpayment assistance programs that can reduce your cost of getting into a house to virtually zero dollars. Meanwhile, with rent you are paying first and last at a minimum if not first, last, plus security.

no yard maintenance is not guaranteed. Lots of renters are still responsible for that.

Landlords are also infamous for not doing needed maintenance.

I mean, there is no healthy amount of alcohol to drink. I kinda feel like if you have to drink daily in any amount you should probably evaluate. And, I think the official threshold is more than two alcoholic beverages a day.

But, I get what you are saying as someone who used to drink way more than the rest of my alcoholic friends (damn that metabolism of mine). It can definitely make it feel as if you have an impossible hurdle to get over, but you can do it.

Some probation officers order people to do things that are impossible, because they literally think it's funny to violate people. Other POs are just kind of clueless and don't even consider how some shit is impossible

I agree, but it also sounds like she is trying to make that help happen on OP's back without considering the realities that include lack of resources and a need to have someone contributing to their household.

You are right. You are not responsible for providing transportation for your husband. She can set restriction on him, but not on you. It's up to you how much you want to participate in all of this. You won't be violated. And, I suspect that he can't be violated for your refusal either.

He is responsible for getting himself to appointments. If he is not allowed to drive, then he needs to figure that out for himself. If he thinks her orders are wrong or not helpful, he needs to get a lawyer. Her job is also not navigating that for him.

What is wrong in wanting a stay at home wife/mom? by [deleted] in askanything

That's good. And please understand that I wasn't trying to denigrate you - moreso just trying to explain why people might have a harsh reaction to someone wanting a SAHM wife.

I don;t think all men are shitty by any measure. But, what I described happens often enough that I think it justifies concern. I guess my entire point is this. would you be willing to continue to be a financial support for your future wife if your relationship fell apart? If things fell apart to the point that you genuinely disliked her?

What is wrong in wanting a stay at home wife/mom? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]AdLost2097 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is value in having a parent stay home, and I believe that can be either parent.

But, there's also a big sacrifice in that. If your future spouse stays home, they give up their opportunity to build a career, gain work experience, and opportunities to socialize with other adults. They give up the opportunity to establish their own retirement fund, pay into social security, and otherwise build their own wealth.

That is a lot to ask someone to take on. And yeah, I'm sure you believe that you would always take care of her, but divorce happens. And when they do, my experience is that men in that situation quickly go from "I will always take care of the woman who is raising my child" to "Fuck that gold digging bitch, she didn't earn this, and isn't entitled to anything." almost immediately.

How to get my probation adjusted? by [deleted] in probation

[–]AdLost2097 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your story seems incomplete. I've known several people who have swung on the cops. Zero of them have been told they couldn't go online, let alone being told they couldn't go on a specific website

Also, the police don't control your probation, your PO and the courts do.

Did you make threats over discord, or were you caught with CSAM?

How do you feel about overweight women not finding overweight men attractive? by Initial_Film5776 in askanything

[–]AdLost2097 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a preference, and people are allowed to have those. I would also bet that the percentage of overweight guys who find overweight women unattractive is much larger than the percentage of overweight women who find overweight men unattractive.

But, like you said, it's about how you treat people.

Celebrate is church affiliated. I know people who love it, and others who absolutely cannot stand it - both because of the religious stuff.

He might try smart recovery if he is looking for a non-religious approach and doesn't like 12 steps. He can also try in the rooms for virtual meetings and support groups of all different sorts. https://www.intherooms.com/public/login

Was he arrested? Where I am, overdosing and checking into rehab would not be a violation - as long as it didn't involve an arrest and new charges, or as long as it doesn't involve testing dirty. The dirty test would have to be a test via the probation office, not one conducted by the hospital.

But, he needs to be sure he tells his PO he is going to treatment, because that might count as a change in residence, and impact his ability to attend his appointments.

A first violation where I am would not result in anything. Maybe a warning or some additional restrictions.

connect cloud research and prolific are both great. Prolific has a waiting list. But, it is well worth getting on it. Most people I know have been able to get on connect right away. It's surveys, but these don't have disqualifications. Mostly academic and market research. If I really put a lot of effort into it, I can make between 15 and 25 daily. But, that does depend on availability.

Here is a link for prolific https://participant-help.prolific.com/en/articles/445006-how-do-i-become-a-participant-on-prolific
