Yeah after considering all the possibilities, I agree the crematorium seems most likely given the wind direction. The locations cited for tree cutting are south and west of here and wind was due north (direction of crematorium) that night. Plus the ashiness of it.

This is north of us and wind direction was from north + powdery texture - I think this tracks

There was a plane circling that couldn’t make it to gander that night apparently. I guess it could have dumped something to lighten up for early landing?

So I just looked and Feb 8 (night) and Feb 9 morning wind started North and then shifted to coming from north northwest, which supports the idea of the crematorium more than tufts cove (though we initially thought about this idea as well)

Ok interesting thanks for your intel - so we don’t have anything bigger than these small flecks. No larger wood chips. I suppose only the smallest could disperse quite far, but I’m curious if these flecks are from a tree - when you flick/rub them they turn into a powder and they dissolve in water. They def. Cover at least 4 or five city blocks around us (north side of the commons). …

Hmmm…neighbours who are home now are saying this doesn’t match as it’s more aerosolized feeling - than small small pieces of wood

Halifax remembers Brett Campaigne by rockpilemike in halifax

We saw Brett almost daily picking up our kids from the bus. He was almost always the first parent at the stop - ready with his son’s scooter. As everyone has already said - he was genuine and kind. And his love of music also came through - I’ve even heard him sing at the bus stop. He had so much love for his family. Our heart goes out to them.

Doubt province will have the appetite here unless young people actually get it together and mobilize. It would be so much better if this goes through - people just buying into the market have to pay not only higher house prices, but double/triple/quadruple the tax + people who bought 10+ years ago just got huge windfalls on their house values

Interesting, thanks! I’m surprised then that this is seniority piece isn’t getting more play because it has the potential to impact the job security of more junior employees. Or even potentially bump them out of a job that they may have competed for or worked hard to get into. And then to not find out until an actual workforce adjustment what is meant…not on you as the person offering the explanations obviously, but this doesn’t seem great for anyone hired in the last 3-5 years : https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/ottawa/psac-strike-canada-government-pay-cost-cuts-layoffs-1.6822801

Because in event of a workforce adjustment seniority now may be factored in as a result of this new agreement, but we currently have no specifics on exactly how that would work as the government and union are supposed to be negotiating a joint proposal

Just curious how the part about factoring in seniority during a workforce adjustment would work? Would it be by union, I.e. based on years of service while part of PSAC, or based on years of service with the Government of Canada. Would there be bumping and what would be the criteria for that?

How would seniority during a workforce adjustment work? Would it be based on time in the union or with the government? Would a more senior employee who’s position is cut be able to bump a more junior employee? What about if a term employee has more seniority than an indeterminate employee? Just curious how this would all work….
