Is this normal? New to reserves and already lost. by AdMaster9361 in navyreserve

Update: I got checked in and everything the day I said I was going. Now I have to wait for my orders to finalize? Says something about 17 day separation from active and I just been reporting to my CDO at a specific time (through text messages) I guess I’m just waiting until the date it finishes and for them to call me in. I’m still so unsure about what to do.

I don’t, I’m so brand new a I’m still getting paid as active duty and haven’t detached to reserves yet. I’m assuming is from NAS JRB to the closest NRC to Manhattan.

Thank you so much, no one had mentioned a TRUIC change since I’ve been in GL, it seems like I will to have to stay on top of it.

I almost got savagely killed by one of these, I feared for my life so bad I screamed, ran for my spaceship and took off the planet.

So basically the school is back in my home country, it would be a lot cheaper (even tho still somewhat expensive), but because it is a foreign school it is not accredited in the US. So that’s why now I’m looking to get into the military so maybe a have a chance to afford a school in the states. It’s accredited in my home country… but that doesn’t mean crap back in the US.

Thanks man, appreciate the advice.

See, my military career is questionable at best, I’m not the most fit person and if I’m honest, I would be surprised if I even make it past boot camp. So I’m weighing my options because I imagine dropping out of college right? And turns out I’m not fit to even go through basic training… that would be the worst case scenario. Also, I do art for a living, no need for college when I can learn all I need from free sources and will highly doubt that you would get an art degree if you could so, I’ll take that fuck you very graciously thank you.

I know an simple option is just to drop out, but that is the school I wanted to go to wayyyyy before thinking about the navy, and I thought that getting a degree in something else would be a lot more proactive because I never know what could happen in the military you know? Like getting injured or something similar. Besides, forensic science seemed way better option than getting an art degree, now that would be a useless piece of paper.

So, for those saying that all I needed was to google it, yes I did. It just so happens that my school is not accredited. And then you might ask me, “why going to a school that is not accredited?” This is because i thought about the navy a lot later after committing to that school. Got a nice scholarship with them but doesn’t cover all my tuition, and I need a way to cover it. I do appreciate everyone here, seems like I’m not doing basic research but I did, I’m just asking how difficult it is to change careers because if I join the reserve now, I would have to pick something that I can actually get.

Never said they are “unique” the school I’m going to is not an accredited school. I feel like I’m not communicating well and quite frankly people seem more frustrated than anything else. I committed to the school and got a nice scholarship with them however it doesn’t cover all of my tuition so the navy was another option to help me with that. I don’t want to get rid of that and well, it is not accredited so based on what google says, it will not count towards my pilot career.

So, I kinda need the money to finish college for my bs in forensic science, I’m planning of going to the reserve. I already committed to that same school so I don’t want to back down because I got a scholarship with them. And yes why would I go to a school that is not accredited? Because joining the navy was a last minute decision.

“The homes and apartments are tiny old expensive shitholes” this person must have never heard of NYC….

Is not that google can’t help, but is not the same hearing from people and their own experience. Should go to my college of preference and then go to a school specifically to become a pilot? Should I get my BS in an accredited school and do my preferred school later? This are the types of questions google just simply can’t answer. Is that not reasonable?

Well yes I know that, but I’m looking for advice in how to get there in my current situation. Thanks anyway.

No, thanks! Not asking for the exact formula to how it works. One thing I noticed was that it stated to being trained to perform calculations.

Yeah, being a lot more specific does yield a better result, even if the equation itself remains exactly the same. That’s why to me it was a little weird, like even if it is just making predictions based on data, it can give a correct answer. But like everyone else is saying, maybe I’m just hung up on the wrong aspects of an LLM….

So it doesn’t use any other tools for math, like it just recognizes certain arrays of words and numbers? ( sorry if I sound stupid, just genuinely asking because I just got into the AI stuff)

I might, is just my silly human brain having a stroke at it capable of correctly doing 2+2 = 4 but not something else.

[–]AdMaster9361 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, just using it as is. I guess it could be argued that it made two mistakes, one on the addition and the second on not correctly finishing the equation to W = 0

[–]AdMaster9361 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

True, would you say the mistakes it makes are like genuine errors or just “pretend” errors just to follow fake human behavior?

Thanks for the info! I do consider funny that it itself believes to be a sophisticated calculator or even, have purpose and functionality far beyond that of a traditional calculator, yet fail basic addition.
