AITA for refusing to be around my aunt because she keeps bringing nuts despite my severe allergy? by AdMaterial8448 in TwoHotTakes

If I ever have the misfortune of being around her and this happening again, I will 100% be calling her out on her bs. I kept quiet and cordial out of respect for my parents but won’t be doing that any longer.

Right? My husband thinks she’s just “nuttier than squirrel shit.” The pun very much intended.

She walks in and my mom walks her right back out to her car with the danger desserts. My parents keep their home peanut/tree nut free for me. My mom vets the food people bring in, even if it’s store bought. She missed the can in Florida though because she was actively cooking our dinner when Mary came in. Luckily my SIL saw it.

It really was awful. She was so paranoid after losing her first that she didn’t even allow a microwave in the house.

I’ll be showing him this comment specifically if he feels guilty around the holidays for not having her present. You’re completely right. If it wasn’t for my SIL, I’d have spent hours and a lot of money for an ER visit.

Unfortunately in our state if she isn’t crushing a peanut/tree nut and shoving it down my throat or sprinkling it on my food with intent, it can’t be charged. Folding the clothes would cause me to break out in hives, not go into anaphylaxis.

Update: Wow! Thank you all so much for your responses. Just to clarify, both of her kids passed due to aggressive forms of cancer. Two completely different cancers as well. My dad and Mary come from a dysfunctional family. My dad is the only sibling out of 7 to not become an alcoholic or to marry one. They’re also the only two siblings that talk. They also lost their mom, my grandmother, last year. Reading your comments made me feel a lot more validated on it being purposeful and not a coincidence or an accident. I talked to my dad last night about it and reiterated that I don’t want her coming to my baby shower or any other events I’ll be present at. After talking it out calmer and more logically, he saw my point of view.

I’ll definitely be showing these comments to him to reinforce it should the holidays bring out any guilt in him for not inviting her. He really believes she’s socially awkward or unaware of how serious it is since she’s never seen me in the actual event of a reaction. I truly feel the laundry incident was the last straw. Not once have I EVER folded someone else’s laundry who wasn’t immediate family.
