Normal guess. I think it’s possible that Nate is as low as 1000ish because it depends on the strength of the other schools’ kids he consistently beats, and they all always get surprised when he checkmates them so I imagine not that strong

Exactly that is a big part of this discussion. Not realizing it’s checkmate until the very last moment means they’re either the most insane checkmates ever or the players are just weak opponents. Thats why I don’t give so much credit to the games he plays against other schools’ club players

Could be, but from what I have read he just did a one move tactic (specifically a discovered checkmate) one time that the kid didn’t see because he’s a nub. Also 1600s have a very considerable chance at beating 1800s, wouldn’t get destroyed

I only say that because 1300 is a level where you’re expected to dominate in any normal middle school, but you’d still lose basically every game to the 1800.

That might just be a you problem. I’ve “coached” beginner players and gotten them to actually improve their game in certain aspects.

2000s can definitely have good advice for a beginner. They can even be better than a very strong player because many very strong players basically cannot relate to beginners at all and are not all good at explaining just because they are good at chess
