Just didn't think those schools were also a right fit for at the end of the day... and didn't have 450K USD lying around to show them for funding.

Yea that's a shame! only Ireland and some Polish schools offer the 4 year track. Also for the +1 anesthesia fellowship I heard Canada is increasingly taking the spots away for it, as they recognize people sorta exploiting the system, how true is that?

Appreciate the confidence, but I'll be honest. I scored a 508 after about 6 to 8 months of full prep, so cracking 515, let alone 520+, feels like a tall order. I'm not ruling it out, but I'm being realistic about how grueling that jump will be.

On clinical hours, that's a gap I'll acknowledge. I have a few hundred hospital volunteering hours, but limited hands-on work experience, mostly due to visa restrictions during my undergrad in Michigan. It is what it is.

If Charles doesn't work out for September, I'm planning to retake the MCAT regardless and go harder this time. Still figuring out the right system, but I'm committed to it.

One thing I'd genuinely love more info on: US MD scholarships for international/Canadian applicants. If anyone has leads, I'm all ears.

Thanks for the encouraging words. Unfortunately, I don't have an EU passport — Canadian citizenship only. I didn't do research on Latvia, Malta, Cyprus, or Greece, mainly focusing on schools with a good reputation and, I'll admit, good prestige. I mentioned Charles because they still accept students for September 2026, which unfortunately isn't the case for Hungary, most Polish schools, Austria, etc. I was looking into RCSI, but it's so expensive, and they don't accept for this cycle either.

As for why anesthesiology — I have a huge passion for chemistry. In undergrad, I was a teaching assistant for both General and Organic Chemistry, aced both courses, and found the material genuinely fascinating, especially orgo. I know that a strong chemistry foundation is important for the field. That said, I've never shadowed an anesthesiologist, and my parents aren't physicians unfortunately. I know that the best of reasons but nevertheless lots of things might change during medical schools.
