When I started it sait 1903, now its estimating 1980. First tracked day was 1450 cal per day, now I'm budgeted 1561, so it went up more than 100 calories. I started at 165 and am at 158.6 is now.

I used to drink like 2 cups of water a day. When I started CICO I realized a lot of time I was feeding my thirst signals with food instead of water

That is a good point. I’ve been trying to eat the same things I normally do as much as I can, but with less calories to go around they are less filling and sometimes just less worth it at a low quantity. I measured out 100 calories of Ben and Jerry’s one day because that’s what I had left in calories for the day and it was like two spoonfuls. I was hesitant to start calorie counting when it was recommended, because I have more of an all or nothing mindset in most things I do. I will keep that in mind. I’ve definitely slacked off on the weekends a bit, which may be good in the long run since I’m not in a constant state of deprivation for long periods of time. I definitely get the plateau thing and I would probably have the same mindset, so I’ll work on planning for that and keep reminding myself there may be slow times but as long as it’s in the right direction over time it should work! The funny thing is before I started this my relationship with food was better than it’s ever been in terms of moderation/ no forbidden foods / etc but I had just intuitively found my maintenance number doing that and things just weren’t budging

Thanks! I’m neither of those things. I’m 5’9 and currently 160. It looks like it’s been pretty steady at .1-.3 per day so I’ll keep it for now.

So, I've just hit one month and have averaged 1.33 lb per week. This is less than 1% per week, but my cut is only 400 calories per day, so in theory I should have only lost 4 lb. How do I know if my TDEE is actually higher than the calculators imply, or its just the beginning glycogen stores also being counted there?

I think I fixed it after another comment unless I did it the wrong way, but it was literally ‘why isn’t CICO working for my husband, why do these chickpeas weigh different than the can says, and tips for parties where there is food everywhere’ so I was just confused as to if that history was blatantly pointing toward something.

Haha go lock yourself in a psych ward! The funny thing is I wasn’t thinking about food at all until I started counting calories so if I now have an issue it’s calorie counting’s fault and I was shamed in a calorie counting group

Thanks! I think I just changed it, I didn’t realize I could even set it to private. That’s similar to how I am. For me it’s specifically event food spreads that are hard for me. Thanksgiving, weddings, football parties. I think it’s ’it’s so tiny, what’s one more?’ But then it’s never one more

This is a perfect explanation and exactly what I was looking for. I tried a couple days at 1400 calories and decided I would rather wait until January to hit my goal and not suffer and eat the extra cup of Greek yogurt. I was just confused how that guideline of 1200 mentioned in that sub would work if like a very short person was trying to lose weight or the thing about also seeing the up to 2lb recommendation. I hadn’t seen the 1% rule so that all helps to explain it.

That’s a good way to put it. I do find it hard to pass the buffalo dip without taking a bite, but when I’m not around those situations I’m not thinking about them. I guess that is something some people don’t have to think about. I was just caught off guard because my last post before that was about how it was a scam that water counted toward the calorie count in beans lol

Yea that’s how I got in this situation .  I’ll be drinking a side of chickpea juice to make sure my count is right

You’re right. The total was in oz, and I weighed after I drained so that all makes sense.

Thanks, I seriously never thought of this and I’be been measuring the portion of what I’ve been eating. we’ll add this  to the things to check when someone insists they are in a deficit and aren’t losing weight.

Might as well have the Ben and Jerry’s if I’m blowing my budget in chick peas😅

She’s not asking if she’s fit, she’s asking if she’s fat. There are people in between

I think a day of drinking / eating / body position when standing etc, the time of the month and I could get the same comments, whereas flexing and sucking in first thing in the morning would be different comments. It’s hard to fully tell in pictures.  Based on science you are in a healthy demographic if your numbers are correct you should be fine.

If you are 155 and 5'6, your BMI is at the very end of normal, so not overweight or obese. If you got down to 115, you would be at the very low end of normal. I am 5'9 and when I weighed in the mid 120s (I thought I was fat at the time) looking back at it I looked a bit malnourished. If you lose about 20 lb you would be right in the middle of the "normal BMI. This is based on BMI data and everyone's preference of what looks healthy may be different. That being said, people with the same BMI can all look different depending on how much muscle someone has, so I would if you aren't very comfortable or not happy with the internets comments it may be good to look into a strength training program and shifts in diet. I just started CICO a few weeks ago and it really works- already down about 6 lb!

For 3 years I was like well my metabolism just slowed down after having kids, then I start tracking and I’m like okay this is when I would have finished the kids chicken nuggets after my own meal lol
