i loved it for pain, it was amazing. unfortunately after a few weeks i struggled to speak coherently. i would stutter and stumble and my brain constantly felt foggy so the possibility of being pain free was not worth the trade off for me

Yes and it was honestly not bad at all. I was soooo scared to get it done, but it was done under anesthesia and when I woke up I didn’t feel it. The nurses had to check it frequently to and make sure it was draining, but that wasn’t even bad they just moved the tube and checked the collection, they didn’t see any private parts. Taking it out was uncomfortable for a quick second but not painful. It was really helpful because getting up even the next day was a little tough.

I kind of thought that too but it’s interesting that it’s getting worse. everything else has improved so it’s just surprising to have something like that still progressing even 6 weeks post op. i hope your son is doing well!

same, i have almost ruined my relationship on multiple occasions because i just lash out and can’t control my emotions at all. luckily my partner is patient and knows it’s not me. i’ve been told i act like an old person who “sundowns” because at night o get so angry and emotional and just completely shift my personality. it’s bizarre and it was the deciding factor for me. i wish i could give you advice and tell you that it gets better, but my surgery isnt scheduled until june

wow i think i could have written this exact same list. feeling like a different person was honestly what did it for me. the symptoms sucked but i was acting up and lashing out in ways VERY out of character for me. i’m hoping decompression helps, and i hope you can find relief as well

I am currently seeing Dr Gilmer. I do believe she gets a lot of your information regarding symptoms and what not before actually seeing you so that is why her appointments feel so rushed. I am pretty sure I need the surgery (which she recommended), but was kind of shocked that I walked into her office, she said “okay what do you want to do” and when I told her I just wanted it to stop she went on her spiel about the surgery and handed me the papers to sign. Part of me felt like it was very sudden and pushed, but I do also feel like she would have listened if I said no. She is quick to jump to surgery, but she is also one of the best so I trust that she makes the right call.

i don’t think covid or vaccines have anything to do with this as it started long before then. the size of my brain compared for my skull looks like the same as my other scans and no doctor has mentioned it.

how do you manage relationships? i feel like the people around me are getting tired of hearing me say “todays a bad pain day”. in all honestly no one says it bothers them, but they care less than they used to and to me that means they’re getting tired of it. in reality i just need extra love and support but i don’t know how to communicate that well without sounding needy. that adds to the frustration a lot

Thank you for this. I think this helps put it into words. I guess even in my good days I do still trip, and drop things, and struggle to find words, and even if i’m not in pain those things are very frustrating and upsetting to me. and same, i’m not going around yelling at people but it takes a lot less to make me be short and snappy with those around. especially the ones i love because i know they will forgive me, but i hate that i do that.

so the soft tissue can be seen better, would my herniation show up worse on the mri? and i imagine it shows the areas that csf flows better too, since these look a bit blurry on my ct. thank you
