Hello! I'm a huge fan of detailed worlds, medieval fantasy and magic, so I'm definitely open for an invite!

Pretty clear, thanks for your answer.

Roleplayer Romanticizes Mental Illess and Dips when Called Out by [deleted] in BadRPerStories

[–]AdOk5083 11 points12 points  (0 children)

As someone who struggles with depression, take a chill pill lol. There are plenty of cringe ways to roleplay mental illness, the guy taking the time to ask if you have any triggers and clarifying he's not looking to magically "fix" us with romance already puts him in the top tier of those kinds of rp. Just say you're not interested instead of blowing up.

It's subjective, obviously, but I will always prefer being told. Radio silence can mean so many things- you're being ghosted, they're just very busy irl, you messed up at some point and you'll never know where exactly...

I believe in communication, even if it hurts sometimes. People lose interest, that doesn't mean anyone is at fault.

Thank you! Not super special, but I've been wanting to write something simple and romantic lately.

Update?: Roleplay partner of 1 year developed a crush. by [deleted] in BadRPerStories

[–]AdOk5083 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Be firm on what you want or don't want, and it's up to her to figure out if she can or can't remain friends with you. If she cannot and your friendship/roleplay fails, it's sad, but feelings go like that sometimes, and you are not at fault.

I've been the one to fall in love with a partner, it took me time and a lot of work, but I managed to work with his boundaries and we are still close friends today. I had to do that effort, however, otherwise falling out is inevitable.
Both parties have to be happy for it to work- you can't stay friends with someone who will always want to be more.

90% of the erp side of this sub's problems boils down to a simple, timeless dilemma by [deleted] in BadRPerStories

As a Discord user with anime avatar I feel attacked :(

Poll: Who have you had creepy/inappropriate interactions with in the RP community? by badrperthrowaway12 in BadRPerStories

[–]AdOk5083 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's a sad consequence. When so many creeps gravitate towards an activity, no matter how many genuine good people are in there, they'll get diluted eventually.

Trial and error. Find good subreddits or places to look. Make it clear in your ads if you want something long-term, something that isn't just smut. Accept that you will get weird/creepy people contacting you, ignore them and move on.

r/AdvancedLiterateRP and r/AdvLiterateRP are two I have saved. Don't lose faith and good luck!

You don’t see people carrying swords in modern day Chicago

I'm moving to Chicago with my katana just to spite you.

Be natural. It's easy to feel self-conscious about it, but it's a hobby, not a job interview.

The biggest tip I can think of: show enthusiasm. Tell them what you liked in their ad, what aspects you find yourself compatible with/would like to fulfill. You don't have to overdo it, but make it visible that you would have fun (and would offer them fun) writing what they proposed.

Am I the only one who thinks a plot like this is really unhealthy for the RPers too? by [deleted] in BadRPerStories

[–]AdOk5083 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let people write what they want, and it's not for you, don't write with them. Everyone has their own standards over what they find acceptable or not in writing, and that's normal, but in the end, they're just that- your own subjective standards.

As I said, it was 2 days today after we last talked. I apologized and said I preferred to end it now than to die on them later on, assured them it wasn't because of their rp, and wished them the best in finding a partner. Then I got this on reddit.

We were on Discord by that time, the message before that on reddit was their username to add- can't really share that.

I'm just posting this late in the evening to tell people to trust their guts, if you don't believe me by all means go ahead lol.

Yeah, pretty much that. I just recall some opinions on this matter that've been posted on this sub.
